Tiny chihuahua set to join Japan police

A chihuahua named Momo (Peach) has passed the exam to become a dog in the police force in western Japan, in what seems to be a first.

Hmmmm.... Could bomb-sniffing small dogs like Momo be a solution to our TSA groper-scanner problem?

1. He would have to be a little taller to sniff most crotches, but it is a win win.
Sorry couldn't resist.

2. Oh, sorry, he works for the TSA. He's trained to do that.
I tried not to go there... but here I am.

5. So; which would you prefer?
This?
Or this?

Disclaimer: I know these images might appear lacking in dignity to some, especially the poorly done leather clad photo shop. And I would like to apologize in advance to anyone that might be aesthetically offended and also to remind you..this is the fuckin' lounge, get a grip.

3. hardly a first in the US
Small dogs like this have been used for years for various scent detection including bomb scenting. They're often preferred as their small size enables them to get into tight spaces where larger dogs can't.

4. This is what is so cool about this.
This little dog is going to help with search and rescue after earthquakes and other disasters, he is going to help save people in need of being found. He isn't some big attack dog, he isn't threatening, he is a little angel. That is cool.

15. the bigger the dog the harder the squeezey
I'm partial to big dogs myself... nothing like a power hug that would crush a lil doggie, spooning while napping and not having to bend down to pet them.

They sure do make big poop though.

11. We have a papillon and chion (chihuahua/papillon mix).
The papillon has much larger ears than the one in the OP and a longer snout.

They're great dogs...very smart! :)
