4. Yeah
Many times during the the holiday season I will feel like plunging an ice pick into the back of someone's neck but since that might result in unwanted attention, I can live vicariously through Joe Pesci.

16. Ours is The Godfather I
Usually still in pjs and right after a big plate of leftovers Friday afternoon. As I'm sure Pesci would probably say, "Fuck all that Black Friday shit!"

18. watched the 1st half hour of that last week
man, what a glorious movie. I watched through the scene where Sollozzo picks Hagen up off the street. I planned to stop after the wedding sequence was over, but the music when the Tom Hagen's plane lands in Los Angeles sucked me in.

There are a number of great books that, when faced with a few minutes to kill and nothing else particularly pressing or interesting to do, I could open up and read any page at random and feel completely satisfied entertained.

I don't think there are as many movies like that ... but I and II I could toss in the DVD player, pick any chapter and random, and spend the next 5-6 minutes (or 20-30 minutes) thoroughly entertained.

Composed largely of chelonium, they say. And of course, the four elephants: Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, and Jerakeen.

13. That's a good one.
One of the few true Thanksgiving movies I can think of, and it doesn't sugarcoat things. Good work by a solid cast.

14. When I was a kid I loved a book called "The Thanksgiving Treasure"
Edited on Tue Nov-23-10 11:20 PM by Arugula Latte
Here is a picture of the book:

Anyhoo, they made a movie out of it in 1973 and called it "The Holiday Treasure." It had Jason Robards in it.

Very sweet, good message, and the girl gets a horse, which to me as a kid was the most amazing possible outcome of anything in life.

19. I have a feeling that I will be living this today...
Edited on Wed Nov-24-10 08:40 AM by blueamy66
as my fiance is way up north and it's gonna snow and I'm afraid he won't get home for Thanksgiving.

He said he'd try to bring John Candy with him. I don't find that funny at all. :-)

Oh, and when will Christmas Vacation start?

22. The Thanksgiving Promise.
"When it was first telecast on November 23, 1986, the made-for-TV Thanksgiving Promise (based on a novel by Blaine and Brenton Yorgason) was advertised as "A Thanksgiving Story as Only Disney Can Tell It." Actually, the film might not have come to fruition at all without the input of the Bridges family: Lloyd, Beau, Lloyd's wife Dorothy, Beau's son Jordan, and Jeff Bridges (uncredited). Jordan Bridges is the central character, a farm boy living in the shadow of his older brothers. Jordan's neighbor (Lloyd) entrusts the boy with a man-sized job: To care for a wounded gosling and fatten up the bird for Thanksgiving dinner. Inevitably, Jordan becomes attached to the bird, and as Thanksgiving approaches, he takes a series of odd jobs, hoping to buy the goose from his neighbor. But Jordan's father (Beau) insists that the boy keep his word and relinquish the goose. In addition to his costarring chores in Thanksgiving Promise, Beau Bridges coproduced and directed the film."

I only saw it once, and then it just disappeared. But I will never forget this movie.
