Today we are putting our boy Leroy to sleep.

This is our boy Leroy. He is a 15 year old cocker spaniel. He's been sick and not eating. They put him on fluids and he ate some, so he got to come home from the hospital. Since he's been home, he hasn't been keeping anything down and has been doing nothing but pooping and sleeping. That is no life for a dog. He's not even frisky when he goes outside, so I know he's trying to tell us it's OK to let him go. It's time. So, we're waiting for the vet to call us to meet us at the clinic.
Good Bye, ol' boy. You've been a very good boy. Now it's time to go. I will never forget you and your crazy kisses...

2. YellowRubberDucky
I am so very sorry.

Leroy looks like a good old boy, and I can tell by your words that you gave him a very good life.

It also sounds like you are a caring and responsible pet owner.

Safe passage to Leroy, and peace to you. You will keep him safe in your heart always.

3. The love and companionship of an older pet.......the lifelong
memories of good times and laughs about the crazy stuff they have done. May you and your family keep these memories close and a peaceful passage to Leroy....what a sweet face .

4. Safe passage, sweet Leroy.
RubberDuckie, I so much empathize with you. Our Wiley and Excellent Boy Cat Named Ginger will be 11 years old on Mother's Day, and has a tumor growing again in his chest (vet removed it once when he was three years old, but now says that because of Ginger's age and the likelihood that a biopsy could spread it, won't touch it). Gingi is scheduled for a full anesthesia for teeth cleaning on Feb. 3 (when I'll be in Geneva for business, so this is all on Däne and Ginger), so I'm a little panicked and your boy's story touches my heart.

Your sweet Leroy passed on knowing he was profoundly loved, and I hope that when it's (eventually) Ginger's time, he'll cross over with the same full belly and full heart.

Remember forever Leroy's crazy kisses. He's waiting out there for you somewhere in the Great Beyond, remembering how much you loved him and laughing about your crazy human kisses. :loveya:

11. I had to hold him for the vet....
And he gave me kisses on my nose like he always did like he was saying, "It's OK, Mommy." And then he was gone.

17. So sad, I am so sorry for you.
And it is always the right thing to do to hold them at that time. Hard to do, but the right thing. Glad you got kisses at the end.

16. Oh, I am so very sorry, my friend!
What a sweet pup and I am so sorry that you're facing this today. I've been there, as well, and it never gets any easier. To have to say goodbye to a beloved friend is truly the worst. In many ways, losing a pet is tougher than losing a person because your pet is always there. And yours looks like such a sweet dog, love those ears. I grew up with a cocker and have had four in my life. They are just the best. I lost my beloved Barney at age 18, also a cocker and the best dog I will ever know, and miss him still. Know that you're in my thoughts and that I really do understand. ;(

Rhiannon

19. Ah, what a wise and noble face!
I'm so very sorry. It hurts so much when this happens, and I feel for you and your family.

Safe passage, Leroy. You've crossed that Rainbow Bridge, and will be at peace and play till your family comes home (a long time from now, but you'll have many adventures before that time.)

Peace.
