Poll question: Anyone's brackets holding up (Poll)
I heard quite a bit of griping at work today about basketball brackets. A few have already declared themselves out of the running. (One is a coach who predicted Louisville as a F4 pick.)

Anyone holding up well so far?

1. I was at 97% early yesterday then had a bad afternoon.
The Southwest region screwed me over.

So far I am:

8-0 in the West Region
7-1 in the Southeast
6-2 in the East
and 3-5 in the Southwest (ouch)

18. That would be similiar to allowing my ten year
old to pick. She'd want to pick by studying their uniforms and deciding who has the best color scheme.

11. I picked Butler and I picked correctly.
I was really worried about that choice. Everyone gave me too much grief over it and I knew my coworkers would rub it in on Monday if they'd lost.

Jokes on them now.

7. What stuns me is the people at ESPN who are leading and they picked

Morehead State over Louisville, Richmond over Vanderbilt and VCU over Georgetown. AND they picked all the other games correct that were not upsets. Who the hell would fill their bracket out that way? I know it's statistics when you get enough people filling them out you will get people that nail crap like that but personally to think that would happen before hand makes you an idiot. They were just lucky as hell or filled out 50 different brackets.

12. Out of the three choices
I actually picked Richmond over Vanderbilt. I filled out my brackets in pencil, looked them over, and decided I needed a big upset early. I decided Vanderbilt would be my upset. I never would have chosen VCU or Morehead State.

My Butler pick is holding up nicely. I thought it would be close and that they'd scrape by.

30. It's probably necessary to hit about three early upsets in order to win
I see your point. Once it gets into the later rounds a lot of people will be racking up the same points so you have to rack up early points to stay ahead.

Go big very early or just go home. If you don't make a bold move early on you'll never win. Whoever predicted the Louisville loss deserves to win it all. That was a bold move.

Out of the number one seeds I thought Pitt had the most chance of going out early.

I don't like KU or Duke but both have strong histories and can psych smaller teams out just by showing up. Ohio State is good so my choice was Pitt.

35. Thanks, Duke!
My 3rd round is still intact...if they had lost, I would have been done -- they're in my Final Four.

The only region that's kicked my ass so far has been the Southwest...Wasn't counting on Louisville or Georgetown to go out so early, and UNLV and Vandy were just bad gambles for me. Everywhere else, I have just one or two losses. The only "bad" loss so far has been Pitt. I just couldn't see Butler getting past them, but I should have known better than to second-guess Butler.

I'm looking for a pretty good day here on out.

I'd rather see a Big 10 team succeed than any of those dumbfucks from the SEC.

OSU > Any other Big 10 team > Random teams > SEC pricks > Miami > a turd.

MATH! That's how it works!

48. I was informed this morning that every team I picked has already
crapped out. I don't follow basketball (I didn't even recognize some of the names!) so my choices are made at random on the "1 from column A and 1 from column B" method. I do this at work just for fun. However, even using my method, I've won a couple of times so I figure my way is just as good as any other.

I've allowed 2 brackets, just because. :) No prize for the winner of this group, cuz I'm broke, but if you enter the Yahoo contest, you could win $5000. Not shabby.

I once had a friend's girlfriend make her picks based on uniform color and style. She did much better than I did, someone who still belives in Pennsylvania basketball teams even though they *#%^ me over every year. Up until about 2 hours before the brackets had to be finished - I had Pittsburgh winning it all. Temple and Villanova already screwed me over. Cincinnati does that to me too.

A&M most especially.

And I joked with a Georgetown alum about the Hoyas losing to VCU---BIG MISTAKE!! Every time they win, he sends me an "It's all your fault" text.

But, truth be told, I picked Kansas over Ohio because I liked their team logo better, but that was after agonizing through all my picks, looking at their rosters, schedules, scores, etc. I just had to pick a winner based on *something* & that was it.

I'm in the middle pack of my office pool so far. Then again, I was in the middle at this time last year and ended up winning it all. It's going to be a crazy week for me.

My team plays late (for us on the East coast) on my freaking birthday and then I'm flying out of the country on Saturday, so if they win against Arizona on Thu., I will be going absolutely insane.
