One should always scrutinize great works for their Deep Hidden Meaning.
For example: The green Light on Miss Daisy's dock.
Some say that the light is related to the lights on navigational buoys and as such it is guiding Gatsby.

Personally, I think it means The Great Gatsby is a Whale, either a Sperm Whale or an Orca (Except Orcas are dolphins, so that one doesn't work.)
