If I die too young, what should I leave for my children?
This is not a cry for help, or any kind of plea

I just want to know, because I've been thinking a lot about it, what wisdom I should leave for my kids?

Should it be 'Watch M*A*S*H'?

Should it be 'Read Machiavelli'?

Should it be 'Read Thomas Hobbes'?

Should it be 'Read your daddy's writings'?

I just want to know what I need to leave them to make the world a better place...

1. Do as I said, not as I did.
That would at least fit for me.

Oh, and don't over-cook the fresh asparagus. Very important.

3. Yeah, that's what the yuppies wore in the late 80's - a pair of Docks.

11. And enjoy fresh, al dente asparagus
even if you happen to be one of the people whose pee smells funny later. :hi:

5. A bumper sticker that you see with some frequency in FL seems apropos -
"I'm spending my childrens' inheritance."

Usually seen on the back of an over-the-top RV, or large boat trailer, or a stretch version of an "S" class Mercedes, 7 series BMW, or the large Jag.

6. Leave them lots of memories that you really loved them and cared for them
I don't mean memories of fun times at Disneyland or getting great toys: I mean memories that you listened to them and were really there with them -- memories that in good or bad moments, they could somehow count on you. You don't have to always be right, and you don't always have to be in control: you have to be real

Only with the heart can one see rightly; the essential is invisible to the eye

7. Teach them how to play..... hard. They'll have that joy with them forever then.
Seriously, I've always been impressed when I see kids outside playing with their parents. Reminds me of my dad at the cottage.

8. Take them across the country in a car, truck, or van at least once.
It's Hell, but in a good and uplifting way.
