Seriously... I have had a windshield repair or replacement done on every car I have owned in the last 20 years. I just had a repair done today. A guy came out to fill in a chip.
1. Probably because the gravel used to pave the roads years ago is exposed
The freeways here are gradually being resurfaced but for years they have been deteriorating. Shook my old Volvo so much I started to worry parts would fall off. Now I have a newer older Volvo to worry about. Hubby's truck awaiting windshield repair due to flying pebbles.
I wouldn't want to buy one of those new cars (from a bailed-out auto manufacturer, say) and have the roads jangle and jiggle them apart in short order.
