Need help remembering title of post-apocalyptic movie.
It's a B-rated movie. No real superstars among the cast. I only have a vague remembrance of the details: What's left of the human race is holed up in a cave like village. The need for survival is so high that adults are not too kind to children. A small group of children run away from this dead-end situation. To my knowledge, none of the adults bother to go after them. So the kids wander in the desert and eventually find a structure where they meet young adults who appear to be doing very well. They're very healthy and well dressed.

As the band of runaways begin to adapt to their new environment, they discover that there is something different about their new friends. Apparently, they don't age. You soon figure out that their condition is the result of some virally spread mutation which is transferable through sex. However, not everyone survives the changes. Some of the kids die horrible deaths as their bodies reject the changes, while others manage to make the transition.

At the end of the movie, one lone boy returns to the village to take all the children, and leaves the adults behind telling them that they're already dead.

Does this trigger any body's memory?

Unfortunately, I was looking for spoilers and there isn't much to go on.

5. IF it had lots of kids who could barely act
with nudity and sex then it sure sounds like a Larry Clark film.

6. I learned a lot when I read up on it.
Worst movie eva. At least the 1958 movie had an interesting twist. The 2001 movie looked like it was an excuse for a Roman Polanski wetdream.

But the real reason why I looked into it was because A) I wanted to know if the girlfriend also exploded after having sex with him, which is why he was alone when he went to get the other kids; and B) had he found a way to guarantee the same thing wouldn't have to the rest of the children?
