5. I felt it here in DC outskirts.
It knocked over my roommate's horse. (It's a fake bronze statue, not a real horse.)

7. Shook, rattled, and rolled here in D.C.
Pretty much everybody wound up outside, staring at each other and talking/texting while we waited for the all-clear.

11. That was scary
I'm in Loudoun County, west of DC. The chandelier was rocking and I thought the house was coming down. I live on this coast to avoid earthquakes. That was scary. I know west coast people think we're wimps, but when you aren't used to it, it's a bit unnerving.

12. Milwaukee
I was just listening to a Milwaukee radio station, and lots of people were calling in to say they felt the earthquake. It seems as if most people calling in were working in taller buildings and felt the tremor.

13. I'm in South Arlington:
I swear it felt like I was at the center of it, stuff fell off our shelves and turned over in every room. My favorite old pottery that my aunt made broke into like eight pieces. I'm gonna try to glue it back together though.

Living in the beltway we're so used to big army planes and helicopters all the time that that's what I thought it was at first, I didn't even pay attention. Then things started falling and the cats got up and ran down to the basement! omg, when it finally ended I just had to cry, I didn't know what else to do, I've never felt this. I felt a little tiny quake once a couple years ago but jeese my whole house shook, things fell down in every room.. omg, I'm still taking it in.

I was cutting up tomatoes for Taco Tuesday when it happened  omg, blah blah blah freakout freakout ..

20. Here in Richmond the cats ran right before it hit.
One of my tabbies, Weird Harold, bolted and headed under the bed right before everything started moving!

14. So was ours.
I was in the middle of a meeting and you could see the whole room move back and forth. At first I thought it was an explosion somewhere. Not used to thinking earthquake.

I called my husband who is at home. He said the whole house shook too.

My son is at camp. I'm worried about him because he is terrified of any kind of natural disaster and constantly asks for reassurance that there are no volcanoes, tornadoes or major earthquakes here.

16. That's what we were thinking when we first felt the rumble
Since the weather outside is stellar.

Our cell phones were down momentarily so I used my work lan-line and was able to call my mother. When she said she felt it in Harrisburg I knew it was an earthquake.

I hope your son is ok. I use to panic about Volcanos when I was his age.
