I feel bad. I had to incarcerate my kitty in the bathroom.
I have 3 cats. An older 9 year old big papa cat, a middle timid, once feral, female scaredy kitty(who unfortunately is not yet spayed) and a husky, 6 month old kitten. For the firt few months, when we weren't home or when we were sleeping, he had to go into the bathroom, becasue either he would relentlessly chase my tiny female kitty and attack her or just fight with the big papa. But the last 2 weeks or so we have been leaving them all out and they have getting along. Now, all of a sudden, he is doing it again. I can't seem to get him to stop chasing the scaredy little cat. I am worried about the possibility of kittens, but I am way more worried about him hurting her. He is scheduled to be neutered next week and I am hoping it calms him down. Little scarey girl is next to be spayed. I feel bad making him stay alone in the bathroom, and he is clawing under the door. Soon, he will start crying and it pains me to hear him cry. But what else can I do? Also, the big older cat had a brother that now lives on the other side of the rainbow bridge, but his behavior has completely changed since then. I thought he would bounce back after a while, but it has been 8 months and still he seems different. He used to fetch paper balls, he would carry them around meowing and bring them up to me so I could toss them for him. He rarely does this anymore. I even caught him biting scaredy kitty a few times, something he had never done before. I just want my kitties happy!

1. neutering should help a whole lot
It may even be the whole problem especially if female kitty isn't spayed. Male cats and dogs seem to turn into total monsters when the hormones kick in. Once all the kitties are spayed and neutered things should be MUCH more harmonious. Even the animals that are already fixed can have issues just having to share space with ones that aren't. And they'll be happier and healthier (and so will you).

2. Neutering will make a huge difference.
Cats get kind of psycho when they're horny. The rest of it is basic territorial stuff that should simmer down once the kitties are fixed and the kitten is settled in. In the meantime it's a good idea to keep the troublemaker segregated when he can't be supervised.

3. Have you considered Feliway as a stopgap?
Others on the board have used it and say it works. I haven't, but it is the first thing I would try if needed. Maybe it will continue to help stressed/scaredy kitty, even after she is spayed. Here, you can read the reviews from Amazon, sifting through them usually helps me to decide on a product: http://www.amazon.com/Feliway-48-Milliliter-Plug-Refills/product-reviews/B000CPAV3O The link is to the multi-pack, so it is pricey, but I would hope you could pick up a single at your local pet store.

4. Thanks, actually she has been much better lately, except when
she is being chased.
