Although writing the word God on the internet is ok. I was taught the thinking behind G-d was so that someday when the paper ended up in the trash, it wouldn't be like trashing God (same with setting the prayer books on the floor). Here on the internet, I see not problem writing God because it doesn't really go anywhere.

As for the supposed name of God, there are three possible connotations. In the Torah, the little pronunciation key symbols aren't there (just a little lesson for you non-Jews out there :) ), so we aren't really sure how to pronounce it anyway. In the really olden days, the high priest said it once in the Holy of Holies on Yom Kippur while nobody else was present. It hasn't been spoken with any authority since the fall of the Temple. Furthermore, there are three possibilities of what the pronunciation is. One of them is the words "I am what I am". That would mean the exchange should read as follows:

Moses: "What is your name?"

God: "I am what I am".

Therefore, it might not really be a name at all.

i may be a buddhist but i am not ignorant of different theologies/religions.
i was born and raised in a Catholic family, attended church every Sunday and went to religious schools for my education; where btw, theology was a required subject.

usual) when they say that Allah is not the same as the Christian God. They are one in the same. Also, "YWH" translated as Yaweh, Jehova, or "the Lord" in the Old Hebrew Bible is the same God.

Strange that the three religions with the same God are the ones most at each other's throats.
