Help with making protest sing and critique my message...
...Don't know if this can go here, but I'll post it here anyways since it involves protest.

Okay, I've never made a sign, so I don't know what the best all-weather materials are, and I'm not very good at all writing very big, so I think I'm going to have to print it somewhere. I'm going to protest on Monument Circle in Indianapolis on January 20th, 2005 and I'm going to assume the worst weather just so my sign can withstand it. I'm just going to assume there will be a foot of snow, high winds, lots of slush, falling snow, etc. Kinda like God's punishing us!

I want to aim using the type of material that apartment complexes use to advertise what they have inside. I think it's kind of like a corrugated cardboard but it's made out of plastic. Also, what's the standard size of a protest sign?

I know this seems kind of stupid asking this, but I was never any good at arts and crafts!:P

Also, I'd like to get people's opinions on what my message is. I was originally going to have it say "How long must we sing this song?" but I wanted to make it more personal and thought-provoking so I want it to say this:

"I am a Satanist
against Bush
not because
he is a Christian
but because
he enjoys
death
and
destruction"

Thanks!

1. My 2 cents
If you have Micorsoft Excel it works great for making signs. It will automatically tile pictures across multiple page then you just lay them out and tape them to your backing (cardboard) like a big puzzle. Use insert picture to put any picture into an Excel document and then stretch it out to the size you want. This works with text also but you have to type in the font size since the choices stop at about 120 pt type.

The plastic stuff you are talking about is professsionally printed. You might consider making a sign using your printer to print multiple sheets like above then tape them to cardboard. I use a knocked down 12 x 12 moving box or slightly larger box folded flat (you can still use the box later too). If you expect bad weather, wrap the final sign in saran wrap but make sure it goes right against the paper/sign or it may hurt the read-ability.

For your message, think in terms of someone driving by in a car. They really can only take in about 5 words or one big image. You are talking about inaugaration day so something that ties in. Humor counts.

Some ideas here: http://www.freewayblogger.com/

Check his section on how to make signs also - excellent.
