because when I tried calling the non-800 number, it told me to call the 800 number. I was calling from my cell phone, so it does not make any difference whether I am calling a toll-free number or not - it still uses minutes. So I wanted to call a regular number so the campaign would not get charged for it, but it would not let me do it. Oh well.

This was a very well organized and well publicized event by the campaign to fire people up for the last 24 hours of fundraising. It gave us that "warm fuzzy connected feeling". Heh.
