Calling talk radio shows, is it just another huge waste of time?

I don't care if it's right or left wing, Neil Boortz or Laura Flanders, they all treat their callers like shit! For years I have been a huge fan of Mike Malloy, but unlike Mike, most talk radio people don't put the callers first! I called the Laura Flanders program, was left on hold for over an hour, but was finally just cut off after more than an hour...

The least she could of done was tell me initially that I probably wouldn't get on. Perhaps I wouldn't of called if she hadn't sounded so eager for people to call in! But to give up an hour of my night, on hold, for absolutely nothing really pisses me off! I've been cut off talk radio before, but I am always told early on..whether or not they have time to take my call. If I had known that I my call would not be taken, I would have hung up early on!

These people don't give a f*ck about my time or your valuable time, all they care about are their worthless egos, or getting another sucker to call in!

I've had it with talk radio, with politics, and with volunteering my valuable time for worthless causes. Time to focus on my own interests for once in my life, my dad must of been right about politics! He never votes, because politicians will say anything to win votes, but they only really do things for their own personal benefit...

I've been hearing him say this for years, but for the first time in my life it really means something! :headbang:

Am I right to feel this cynical? What radio programs have taken your calls, which radio people have treated you with or without respect? Which Air America programs are not worth calling, and which ones would you still take time to call?

1. I think that it might help us to call into and refute the BS of right-wing

hosts. I think that if we're listening to air america or pacifica (for those of you on the west coast) that generally the hosts are doing a good enough job that people who believe the right wing lies aren't going to listen. I know that undecideds listen to right-wing radio.

3. I did this once, and was given a reasonable opportunity.

One thing right wing hosts like to do is edit out your words when you least expect it! This means half of what you say gets on the air, while the other half doesn't. Ultimately it makes the caller sound idiotic. But the golden rule of talk radio, other than only calling hosts that take calls, is to only talk when the radio host is not. Not everything you say will be heard, but this is the best method to insure most of what you say goes on the air!

The worst thing about right wing hosts is they screen calls, the good thing about being screened is you know early on whether or not they will talk to you! Left wing radio people let everyone call in, they will keep everyone on hold for hours, and will ultimately cut you off when they are done with us...

Calling in a few times has pissed me off enough to stop wasting my time listening. I was considering a contribution to AirAmerica, but am now saving it for the next DU fundraiser. Even time is money, and money is something people like me badly need to survive!
