Air America Radio Scores Some Initial Success
Air America Radio Scores Some Initial Success

Analysis
Elizabeth Jensen recently wrote in the Los Angeles Times:

"In New York during April, its first month on the air, Air America attracted more listeners in the 25-to-54-year-old demographic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. than did WABC, where the popular Limbaugh is heard. Air America also beat WABC among the 18-to-34-year-old group. That's specifically intriguing to many in the business because talk radio typically draws an older audience."

In addition, initial reports indicate Air America Radio is drawing thousands of listeners via the Internet stream served up from the network's webpage.

Considering the turmoil Air America experienced during its first month - with top executives leaving and financial anomalies plaguing the liberal-point-of-view startup - it must be encouraging to the staff to know they are finding their audience.

Yeah, now if they would just get back on a Radio station in LA! I'm totally in withdrawals here!

3. This success is actually extremely
impressive! I was, of course, hoping that they'd do well, but wow! It must be destiny and hopefully an omen of good things to come.

2. the morning stations have improved greatly
Morning 'Sedition and Unfiltered have honed up their presentations and are actually interesting now.

I keep giving Franken a chance, but I will say his show is not my favorite but I tune in hoping he got the message fron others that he needs to play to the progressives who listen to him, and not himself or the Republicans.

Randi pushes on not caring one bit about anyone who trashes her, and is great. We need her.

I even like Marty Kaplan. There is something comforting about his well orchestrated presentation.

5. I listened to AAR straight through on a road trip recently.
I had downloaded archived programs of Randi Rhodes, Majority Report and Franken.

I have to say that after four solid days of listening, Franken wears the best by far.

I love the other two programs, but Franken is well-researched, funny, rational and has fabulous guests. Moreover, he is unfailingly polite to guests and callers alike, and I find him more and more appealing.

I think we all realize that Randi's information is sometimes spotty and occasionally inaccurate and it's not her schtick to have a dialogue with her callers. I enjoy her rants, nevertheless.

Janine and Sam talk all over each other, and as much as I love Janine, I wish she'd finish her sentences.

I suspect Franken is a teacher at heart, and I think he's doing a damn fine job of spreading the good news.
