Great email i just got, pass it on..
The Lord has a way of revealing those of us who really know him, and those that don't!

President Bush gave a big speech last week about how his faith is so "important" to him. In this attempt to convince the American people that we should consider him for president, he announced that his favorite Bible verse is John 16:3.

Of course the speech writer meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Bush camp was familiar enough with scripture to catch the error. And do you know what John 16:3 says?

John 16:3 says; "And they will do this because they have not known the Father nor Me".

2. According to snopes, it was Daddy Bush ca. 1990.
Cal Thomas wrote about it in Blinded by Might: Can the Religious Right Save America.

11. And the story was sent to me in 2000 as being about Gore!!!

Yes, some RW crank had recycled something that Poppy Bush said to use it against Al Gore. I thought it was hilarious since Gore is a Southern Baptist and Baptists tend to know the Bible pretty well and thus be less likely to make such a mistake.

4. Shows what a phony he really is -
That's the most common bible verse there is. In fact it is so well known that the text is often omitted.

9. Read the whole thing
Okay, I am totally for kerry and everything, but could you please be a little bit more accurate, I don't hate him, but I dislike bush, and I am a Christian girl, so I don't hate anyone, I rarely find someone I dislike, but I do know for a fact that Bush is a very religious man... so maybe you should read ALL of John 16:3 before you start saying stuff...

"And these things they will do to you because they have not known the father nor me"

...but wait, there's more, you should read all of john 16, and you would see the story behind it and why bush really does like 16:3, he meant what he said.

"But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the father, the spirit of truth who proceeds from the father, he will testify of me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues, yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers god service. AND THESE THINGS THEY WILL DO TO YOU BECAUSE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN THE FATHER NOR ME but these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning because I was with you."

So you see, even if bush is a horrible president, that doesn't make him a bad man. You cant give the partial facts, and even though I don't like it because I am a 100 percent liberal, I would say that this passage of the bible would be saying "watch out for false people" AKA- the liberals.

Bush literally meant that he wanted the world to know that he liked John 16:3 because the whole message is to watch out for people who try to bring you down, and also, TO READ THE WHOLE STORY.

God bless you all,

no bush04

10. Just curious, how do you "know for a fact"

that Bush* "is a very religious man"? Anyone can claim to be religious but if he were arrested on charges of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict him?

Also, it was his daddy who got the two verses confused, anyway. See above posts.
