How dangerous will a lame-duck GWB be?
Scenario;

GWB loses in November, but there are legal challenges all over. Perversely, the GOP are trying to overturn BBV election results using the very evidence we prepared to use against them. But, by early December the Supreme Court lets stand without review a federal district court order that allowed the electoral vote totals to stand; 278 Kerry, 250 Bush.

How dangerous will this White House become in that last few weeks?

Do we have to fear a nuclear war?

Will the Treasury be raided?

Might he attempt a coup to remain in power?

I think we need to think about this possibility in advance and have some idea of how to react if it happens...

1. I wouldn't put anything past the Bush cabal
With that said I have to keep the faith that our Government has survived the test of time & will continue to do so.

The Repubs will make the tax cuts 'permanent'.

3. My hope is that they'll all be...
... so depressed that they can't function at all. That way the paperwork will be preserved for future trials.... :P

6. He's already told us in his own words.
"Everything would be a lot easier if this was a dictatorship. As long as I'm the dictator."

Is there any doubt in your mind what this country will become if Bush, Cheney and Ashcroft are answerable to no one?

There has been much rhetoric over the last two or three years about Nazi Germany, but a similar scenario is not out of the question. After all, do you think the German people saw what was coming in 1938?

The difference this time is that we have the example of Nazi Germany, yet at least half of the people in this country just don't get it. It would be very satisfying to say, "fuck them," however, it's all of us that are going to get fucked by these fascist pigs.

And yes, postings like this will put us right up there on their list, but who the hell wants to live in the world they have planned for us?

7. Expect a whole lot of political bullying and legal wrangling...
...to stay in power if the election is close.

If it's not close, expect a lot of pouting and right-wing media noisemaking, but not much else.

Starting nuclear war, raiding the treasury or attempting a coup (if you mean a violent coup) seem pretty remote possibilities to me.

8. Not as dangerous as you think
Do we have to fear a nuclear war?

No. Bush is nutty, but I seriously doubt he's Ivan the Terrible nutty.

Will the Treasury be raided?

No. Its already empty thanks to 4 years of non-lame duck GWB

Might he attempt a coup to remain in power?

You have to have a very friendly military to accomplish that. And, last I checked the military was very cool (and often hostile) to the Simian-in-chief. Not to mention, I doubt the rank and file soldier would put up with storming Capitol Hill, I'm betting that he/she would simply refuse.

If you are talking in a political, non-violent, coup... well... that's a bit different. Its already happened there as well. The Coup was the neocon hijacking of the GOP.

11. Coup non-possibilities
I wish I could remember the exact URL, but recently I read an article on truthout.org (I think) that discussed the same thing; it said that we really don't have to worry about the Bush Gang trying to (illegally) install themselves by coup or whatever, because the military would then be the arbiter, and the military cannot stand this gang, which sent them undermanned and underequipped (against the best military advice available) into an urban insurgency and continues to make their life more difficult Witness the recent revelations about Rove and the Political branch ordering the April revenge attack and then withdrawal from Fallujah, both against strong advice from the on-the scene commander.

Poppy and Weinberger but that's about it. He is so convinced that God is on his side that it will take him several months to adjust his thoughts to the reality that the people had the audacity to reject God's chosen one.

12. Not Very
I assume you mean his Nov to January presidency- and if so, the answer is not very. Executive orders can be undone just as quickly by the incoming President Kerry (Man, that has a nice ring). Anything stupid involving legislation would likely face an impassioned and sustained filibuster from Dem Senators that will know that help is on the way. If you meant a whole second term, then the answer is that the nation is well and thouroughly screwed.
