stuck in the middle with freeps

:hi: love you all. been in memphis about a year. wife and a 2yr old son.
my neighbor was the nicest person i'd met, couldn't be more helpful. one day i went over to his house to borrow something and he was listening to rush or sean, and he says loud and proud to no one in particular, "oh yeah mister dem, the economy is real bad, whatever." (now, it should be noted that he took an early "retirement" from fed-ex. only recently did i find out that he was basically run off, by the idea that the black guys he worked with were out to get him. i shit you not.)
well i thought he was talking to me, and commented on the rush drug thing that was starting to heat up. he actually said to me "you probly think he was racist for going after mcnabb too." being a big football fan(go lions!)and especially mcnabb fan, uh uh. i said "first that was an ignorant statement, because the media didn't earn anything for him, ala 2 probowls. and its like saying feidler is the starter for miami(it was a while ago)because the media wants a jewish QB to do well." he promptly excused himself muttering something about his lunch getting cold.
now my other neighbor, in the first 5 friggin minutes i know her, says they were wondering "what color" was going to move in. see the look of disgust on my face she backed up, "oh its whats in your heart that really matters". christ loves the compassionate biggot.
so here i am in memphis, trying to make the best of it, which isn't too bad, we have a great zoo, and progressive midtown area.
i just couldn't wait to get started here on DU, i've been stuck on the outside because i had no real internet address. but the ammo i get here has been inspirational. i even converted my mcain supporting mother in law, well maybe this once, but its enough. and a whole other story.

Know how you feel. I have Hastert's homebase just down the road from me on one side, stronghold major population Republican demographics around here. But we're making progress!

Find out where you local Dem Party is and get involved. It will energize you and you'll know you're not as much of a minority as you are thinking now. It helps to know there are others with your beliefs and values working locally, thinking globally...it will do wonders for the soul.

3. don't get me wrong

its not all piss and vinegar. we were the first house on the block with a K/E sign. now there's at least 15 vs maybe 5 *. and he's always good for email replies. hell i sent him the cartoon roundup once and he replied...TO EVERY SINGLE CARTOON INDIVIDUALLY. he's a gas. i will post his reply to MM's top ten bush flip flops.
