Internationalize AIG! Introducing the new G8 global financial regulation entity.
This came up in a separate thread, but I wanted to call this out and see what you think.

Do you think that the G8 countries could band together to "internationalize" AIG and offer to sell insurance to all banks in the world in an effort to stablize the financial system?

Is it time for a global solution to a global crisis? Would the freeper nutjobs freak out about a "New World Order"? Would you?

1. NO!!!
how would the G8 countries insure "all the banks in the world" who would back the TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS of dollars involved?? and why would we trust AIG of all companies to do something as critical as this? sorry but I think they have fucked up enough for one lifetime!!

2. The G8 would sell insurance after an analysis.
They would not be obligated to insure all assets, but would, like any insurance company, insure those assets they deem to be profitable. Of course, to get out of this crisis they will need to buy some toxic crap but hopefully this power move would stabilize the system and thus increase the value of the "toxic" assets.

4. first of all the "G8" is not an entity
it is a group of member participants, they have no bank, no charter to create a bank ( or insurance company ) or any other form of group business. they meet and make agreements and set objectives for the economic policy goals of member nations. this whole topic is silly!!
