Gorillas head race to extinction

By Richard Black
Environment correspondent, BBC News website

Gorillas, orangutans, and corals are among the plants
and animals which are sliding closer to extinction.

The Red List of Threatened Species for 2007 names
habitat loss, hunting and climate change among the
causes.

The World Conservation Union (IUCN) has identified
more than 16,000 species threatened with extinction,
while prospects have brightened for only one.

The IUCN says there is a lack of political will to
tackle the global erosion of nature.

1. "there is a lack of political will to tackle the global erosion of nature."
What a nest of horrors are concealed behind that bland statement.

2. Yeah, and it's not so much erosion either
Erosion takes time. It allows whatever life is living there to adapt. We're not only relentless(like erosion), but we're quick about it. Getting quicker at it by the day. Not only did the gorilla's not sign up for the race, they can't even stop us from running it. There is no defense against our technological superiority. Unless the gorilla's start making their own weapons. But then we've got a madhouse on our hands.
