SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Construction of nuclear power plants in Illinois could be permitted for the first time in more than 20 years under legislation that passed the state Senate today.

...

State Sen. Mike Jacobs, D-Moline, sponsored this year’s Senate bill (HB3388). It sailed through the Senate Energy committee, which Jacobs chairs, and the full chamber.

Jacobs said Illinois should be able to compete with surrounding Midwestern states for jobs connected to plant construction and staffing.

Illinois has six operating nuclear plants with 11 reactors. Jacobs’ bill now goes to the House for consideration.

1. The Devil's Lightning?
A bit melodramatic, don't you think?

3. Tongue-In-Cheek
Most folk religions develop colorful turns of phrase. For example, in several versions of Pidgin English, the word for "Sun" is "Lamp Belong Jesus".

I can't think that either side would object.

4. "Tongue-In-Cheek" is appropriate to "Uranus worship"

5. That's a good one
I approve.

Unfortunately, most people who are keen to lick Uranus don't have much of a sense of humor. That could be said for a couple of worshipers as well.

I hope that changes; this place can get like an Amish shuffleboard tournament.
