Here is the old link to that post:

New, aesthetically pleasing WIND TURBINE for use in urban settings.

WELL HAVE I GOT AN UPDATE FOR YOU.

Court documents say state employee conspired to illegally obtain federal stimulus money

It seems that the whole thing was a scam to get government money. Probably not surprising for anyone who visited their amateurish website. DUers smelled a rat.

Gee whizz...and I thought it was sooooo purdy.

1. BTW - It looks as though they finally ran a 'spell check' on their website

which was just full of errors that reflected poorly on their professionalism. It was like third grade level.

2. Looks like they went to great lengths to get not a lot of money
and the design looks like it would be far less efficient than other turbines on the market.

3. Crime doesn't pay...lol. But this is the prevailing Tx. mindset about the government
Edited on Sun Oct-16-11 12:01 PM by Dover
They don't see this kind of thing as a crime, but more like silly red tape. The official who was confronted and asked to act on these misdeeds replied something to the effect that he wasn't going to pursue the comptroller and the wind turbine con-man just because they used a few "white lies" to obtain the government funds. That's pretty indicative of the mindset. Of course he too now faces arrest for his negligence.

Outsmarting the government is seen as sport. And the primary players are politicians and government employees.

4. Industrial blight. Yuck.
I could live with them if they worked, but they don't. We need power 24/7--not just when the wind is blowing. Some people are getting mighty rich off this wind-power boondoggle.

6. Sigh. I still say "boondoggle."
Coal must go, yes. It is killing the planet. Oil and natural gas must go, for the same reason (though we have yet to find a quick turbine to ramp up or turn off to respond to peaks and valleys in electrical demand--we use natural gas for that).

But wind? That is not the answer. Neither is solar. People want electricity when the sun isn't shining just as people want electricity when the wind isn't blowing. We need to keep looking fo better solutions.

7. I recall that post.
I also remember visiting their site, thinking that it was quite horrid, and then saw other DUers posting about THAT, so I didn't bother adding my 'me too' to the comments.
