China's New Architectural Wonders
http://www.businessweek.com//innovate/content/dec2005/id20051223_903049.htm

Very interesting read and slide show on China's new buildings. The scale, originality, and environmental consciousness in this architecture is pretty amazing. Only 30 years or so after his death....I don't think Mao would recognize the country today.

4. Beautiful!
All I see going up around here are strip malls. There is nothing uglier.

the idiot king wanted war and a super transnational highway, terrific ideas from those Chinese but flush with cash what's a country to do..

I did enjoy that new airport and the skyscraper 101 floors high.

thanks for the look.

3. I thought about that.
What could a trillion dollars spent creating a mess in iraq have done for our economy in terms of new/rebuilt infrastructure, decentralized energy creation, education, etc...

5. The ad that pops on the page implies that the Lexis hybrid is wind powered
"Propelled by a new form of energy," it says. It shows a wind turbine morphing into an auto wheel that is attached to the 340 hp hybrid engine of a Lexus. "Low emissions," it says.

That has to be the most misleading, fraudulent, ad I have ever seen.

But to return to the original point of the thread: China's new prosperity is based mostly on coal, at least for now.
