2. Yes, but the United States is still a big country with a lot of oil.

The United States has nearly 21 billion barrels of oil and exploits about 1.8 billion barrels per year, or just under 5 million barrels per day. Thats a decline from the 39 billion barrels of oil reserves and 4 billion barrels of production per year in 1970.

On edit: Oh, and I should also mention the world uses about 83 million barrels per day.
