Dublin - An Irish bank boss who resigned after admitting he had accessed an Internet site containing "adult material" on his office computer expressed his regret on Monday for what he described as a "silly" incident.
Michael Soden, 57, group chief executive of Bank of Ireland, the country's second biggest commercial bank, announced his immediate resignation in a personal statement on Saturday.
"It was a case of curiosity killed the cat," he told the Irish Times newspaper on Monday.
Soden described his departure from his job - with an annual pay of the €1.3 million - at the Republic's oldest bank as self-inflicted.
"It was a silly incident. It was unfortunate and I am paying a very high price for it. I regret it enormously. It was foolish.
