Good for you if you've never needed a gun. Congratulations.
I've never "needed" a gun either. I've never needed car insurance to pay for an accident. I've never needed a spare tire. But I have all those things, because I believe in being prepared for situations that might arise. Having a gun doesn't mean I'm "afraid" any more than having insurance means I live in terror of having a car accident. I just recognize that I may someday face a situation where I would need one of those things, and I don't assume that I live a charmed life. In the real world, things happen.

I think it's obvious you didn't. And while car insurance may not kill people, car accidents do in far greater number than guns.

11. Chances of dying by mass murder approx 4.5%
Total Deaths During the 20th Century

Approximately 4,126,000,000 people have died during this century from all causes. If man-made megadeaths account for 185 million of them, then one out of every 22 (or 4.5%) human deaths during the 20th Century have been caused by fellow humans.

That's where 99% of your "mass murder" deaths are coming from...

14. 59 Years and Counting
Never needed a gun to defend myself or get out of trouble.
20 years surveying mountainous areas w/ snake, bears and
lots of very aggressive dogs. Never needed a gun.
The man who bought my mountain cabin in 1980 killed his
cousin by accident because he was worried about bears
and kept a .45 at the ready for a 50' walk from driveway to house.

I've owned and used guns so I am not anti-gun. I live in town now
so I don't need a gun for varmints.
I actually think every home should have a flintlock over
the fireplace to fend off Redcoats, marauding Indians and
foxes in the hen-house like the founders intended.

16. Almost 63 years old and I have never had a house fire...
although years ago my next doors neighbor's house suffered major damage from a kitchen fire and a furniture store beside my house where I live at now, burned to the ground two years ago.

I have fire alarms in the house and a number of fire extinguishers. I probably don't need them but if I do, I'll be glad I had them.

As far as firearms, I've owned a number for 40 years. I also have a concealed carry permit. I never had to use one for personal self defense and I doubt that I ever will. My daughter, however, did stop an intruder breaking in our home with one.

20. I could add no major car accidents causing me to end up in the hospital.
But there were several auto accidents that caused me to end up very sore for a few days. (None where my fault.)

Yes, overall it has been a "good stretch".

26. In contrast to me.
Just for example: Yesterday when I went to get my mail a state trooper pulled a guy over at about 75 yards away from where I was standing. Things went normally for a few seconds then the trooper behind the other car pulls his gun, points it at the car and starts screaming "GET OUT OF THE CAR! GET OUT OF THE CAR!" The trooper was by himself. I'm not going to just stand there and watch a trooper get killed, but I don't want to add to the confusion and get myself shot. I was carrying. Luckily it turned out to be a false alarm.
But this kind of thing isn't really unusual for me. Car crashes, badguys, all that stuff.
I think I would prefer your luck.

18. sorry to hear about that man's cousin, but I gotta ask...
Is a .45 really enough to dissuade a hungry bear?

I always heard if the caliber didn't end in "magnum" your likely to end up as a pre-hibernation snack. Just wonder'n...

19. Not Sure
Maybe a very well placed shot.
That was his defense at trial; fear of bear attack.
Got 10 years for 2nd degree murder.
Local gossip had them dealing coke
and fighting over alleged debts.
He tried to "duct tape" the wound
in his cousins chest closed when he realized what he had done.
If the gun hadn't been so handy a black eye or two might
have been the worst outcome.
Handguns just make it too easy to do something you can't undo.

25. Several...
I prefer my AR15, though. It took me a long time to get my head around using one instead of a shotgun. It's all about the right tool for the job so I can't say one is really superior to the other.

I bet you even believe in INSURANCE for CHILDREN. What we need is more insurance control laws. All insurance policies should be stored in a locked safe.
