Cop Aimed Loaded Gun At Bar Worker’s Head
NASSAU COUNTY—A Nassau County police officer has been arrested following a recent incident in which the off-duty officer aimed a loaded gun at a bar employee’s head.

Richard Hefferon, 46, of Farmingdale, turned himself in to the Nassau County Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit for arrest. He is charged with one count of second degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor. Hefferon faces up to a year in jail if convicted.

Prosecutors said that at approximately 5:50 a.m. on April 26, Hefferon had several drinks at the South Main Street Pub in Farmingdale when he aimed a loaded police-issued weapon at the bartender’s head. The incident was captured on security cameras in the bar.

2. A misdemeanor?
"Second degree reckless endangerment"? How is this not aggravated assault?

4. Plus if he was carrying a weapon while intoxicated, that alone is illegal, like drunk driving.
Of course the real answer to how it's not aggravated assault is that the perpetrator is a police officer.

3. Police should be held to a HIGHER standard. Not given a slap on the wrist.
