Palestinian girl gets new eye
MEDICAL RELIEF ORGANIZATION HELPS CHILDREN OF MIDDLE EAST

<snip>

"The Palestinian girl clutched her stuffed animal and managed to be brave. Her mother murmured prayers in Arabic, weeping as she softly rocked little Isra'a back and forth in her arms.

Isra'a El Batsh, just 3 1/2 years old, lost her right eye in March when an Israeli helicopter fired a missile into her densely populated Gaza neighborhood. Her eye is a sunken hole, and shrapnel wounds still cover her face.

But on Friday, San Jose ocularist Raymond Rendon fitted Isra'a with a prosthetic eye. They had been brought together by the non-profit Palestine Children's Relief Fund, or PCRF, which keeps an extensive database of children from the Palestinian territories and elsewhere in the Middle East who desperately need specialized medical treatment."

<snip>

"The relief fund works to match Palestinian children with physicians in the United States and Europe who provide the surgery free of charge. Ideally, doctors fly to the West Bank or Gaza, where they use their skills to treat dozens of children per visit. But often the children go abroad and stay with host families, many of whom speak Arabic and who translate and offer emotional support."

1. From the same lilnk:
Edited on Mon Jun-26-06 02:06 PM by Jim Sagle
Sosebee said the work of his organization is increasingly critical. The recent victory of Hamas in the Palestinian elections has led to deep cuts in foreign aid from the United States and Europe because Hamas, which is on the State Department's list of terrorist organizations, refuses to recognize Israel. That has led many to worry that impoverished places like Gaza are on the brink of humanitarian disaster.

Hamas could improve this grim situation by recognizing Israel, or at the least, cracking down on the terrorists who provoke Israel's violent responses.

have a need for a fake eyeball that only fills a deep hole and cannot let her see.

4. Is that an excuse to keep the violence going forever?
Why not arm both sides equally and let them fight it out? Oh, no, the Palestinians must be kept down and crushed by the aggressors. There is no fairness to the Palestinians so peace is the only answer. Let them have their own land, their own government, their own army and their own funds without check points, tanks and bulldozers and all the other crap their overseers mete out to them.

5. Eternal War
"Let them have their own land, their own government, their own army and their own funds without check points, tanks and bulldozers...."

Look at the stellar job they've done with Gaza. Their own land, multiple and varied armies, they set up their own checkpoints. Use their own bulldozers to demolish homes in Gaza. And, instead of negotiating peace, they continue to attack israel.

They've apparently chosen an eternal war. Hopefully there are those within Gaza that want peace, jobs, improved infrastructure and a vibrant economy.

7. Yeah, instead it's mass genocide of Palestinians
The whole situation won't end until every Palestinian is dead. Is that what you want?
Why not just do it? The US government will support you. Look at Rwanda and Sudan and our own history with Native Americans. The world will do nothing. From your comments in the past, it sounds like it's what you want. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm sorry to be so harsh, I've agreed with you on other non I/P issues. But I can never agree with genocide, no matter who is doing it, even former victims. Everything about this situation is cause for despair, it will never end. Genocide or slavery is the only logical outcome of this scenario, and given that Israel has the better weapons, we know who will lose.

8. There's no genocide going on here.
Genocide would mean a falling Palestinian population. Palestinian population is, in fact, rising.

What a slanderous accusation.
