IDF continues Gaza operations
From Ha'Aretz:

The first airstrike hit offices of the Hamas-controlled economy ministry, setting the building on fire. Rescue teams rushed to the scene of the attack, located near a housing complex inhabited by some 600 people.

--snip--

The IDF confirmed both air strikes.

1. Apparently Israel plans to remove Hamas -- one way or another
which may look like a wise move -- but what sort of organization will rise up in place of Hamas?

As a general rule -- the replacement group will be far more radical.

My reasoning for this is that Hezbolla evolved after the last invasion and occupation of Lebanon -- and Hamas evolved with help from Israel to replace the PLO. Eventually Hamas became more radical of the two organizations (PLO & Hamas) -- and Israel has been trying to kill over the leadership.

The snip from the linked article below gives a bit of history -- worth the read in the context of unfolding events in the region.

Israel's partners now are in its prisons. And this is the paradox. Just when it becomes critical to draw a distinction between the street gangs and some kind of responsible leadership, Israel is barking up the wrong tree.

It is interesting to see almost text book social organization and political science happening on a world stage -- I studied this stuff in the 70s. And since then not a whole lot has changed -- the same damed players. The weapons are worse -- but the stupidity of the leaders seems to be the same from generation to generation.

2. It suits Israel's interests heavily if there are no "partners for peace".
The myth that Israel, like some Diogenes, searches the land in vain for a "partner in peace" is a joke to anyone who bothers to pick up a newspaper. You're right, as well, that the replacement group will be more radical.

Israel will ghetto the Palestinians until there are no more then move in.

If the above sentiment is hard to believe, look no further than the Kadima party platoform, itself. Read it carefully. Think about implications and assertions.

3. Israel has its own path --
The question is -- is the direction that Israel is going in the best interest of America?

I had forgotten the name of Sharon's new political party -- Kadima -- humm.

Yes -- I feel no affinity for any of the players. Just a whole lot a manipulative evil people who don't care about the civilian body count. But then most don't believe there are civilians any longer -- just collateral damage -- to be marked off as an oops.

4. unreal
Right.......Israel doesn't want peace....they only want war......just like Americans who would just LOVE to be hit daily with suicide bombers and 911 once a month.

I wonder how Americans would handle kidnappings and hundreds of rocket bombs being fired from Mexico along with illegals pouring over as suicide bombers. Would the world expect America to negotiate a settlement, never use force, and play nice with Mexico if this were to occur?

Unreal.
