Israeli town in trauma from Palestinian rockets
SDEROT, Israel, Jan 23 (Reuters) - They may be reading the paper, shopping for groceries, putting the kids to bed. But when the siren sounds, the residents of this southern Israeli town drop everything and run for cover.

They have 15 seconds to reach one of the bomb shelters that dot Sderot, which lies just 1.5 km (1 mile) from the Gaza Strip and faces an almost daily barrage of Palestinian rockets. No one knows where the rockets will land.

"We are living in a war zone," said Hava Gad, a 42-year-old mother of three whose 9-year-old son is so traumatised by the constant salvoes that he refuses to sleep alone and soils himself almost daily.

1. Perhaps if they quit starving the Palestinians and caging them in...
they wouldn't feel like firing rockets at them.

2. The usual argument ....
Perhaps if the Palestinians would recognize Israel's right to exist, then there might be a path for peace. Israel pulled out of Gaza and allowed the Palestinians the right to rule. Granted, there were restrictions, but clearly there was little attempt to live up to the promise.

It's not a pretty situation on either side, but missile attacks do little to create anything but more emnity.

3. Sderot has been attacked by Palestinian rocket attacks for the last seven years
I look forward to the day when this particular topic forum is no longer needed.

6. The incredible shrinking Palestine
THE HISTORY of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can be glimpsed through a series of maps.

This mess has been going on for a lot longer than 7 years...

5. Maybe if the Palestinians stopped firing rockets at them, the Israelis would respond more favorably.

7. A good idea and then we can arrange compensation.......
Suggestion:

Palestinians compensate Israel for all the damage to its infrastructure, suffering and murder of its citizens.

Israel compensates the Palestinians for all the damage to their infrastructure, suffering and murder of their nationals.

A cheque for the balance will suffice.
