Report: Gaza medical aid is expired

"They're bringing more harm than good," with broken supplies.

Palestinians claim that most of the medicines sent into Gaza are past their expiration date, Al-Jazeera reported on Wednesday. "They're bringing more harm than good," the article explained, describing expired medicines and broken supplies sent by different countries and organizations.

Mounir el-Barash, director of the donations department in Gaza's Ministry of Health told al-Jazeera that only 30% of the aid sent into the Gaza Strip is used.

Gaza officials also expressed anger at receiving burial shrouds for children from Arab countries.

Israel eased its blockade in late June, allowing more civilian aid into the Gaza Strip. Earlier this week, aid from the Libyan flotilla was reportedly brought to Gaza. The Defense Ministry’s coordinator of government activities in the territories (COGAT) also gave initial approval to international organizations for 31 construction projects in the Gaza Strip in July, including medical clinics.

2. This story is crap: Expired meds are frequently donated by medical orgs
Expired meds are not, usually, ineffective. Hospitals wind up throwing out a lot of medication because it has expired and they are going by the book. Most charities know this and scoop up expired meds by the truckload, because they are usually as effective as new medications and if not, still represent an improvement over nothing at all.

You can go back to your regular scheduled argument. But know something about the subject matter next time.

3. Al Jazeera reports that Gaza ministry of health only uses 30% of aid sent.

Also, how do you defend sending torn, tattered, worn-out clothes and shoes with broken heels?

It's no wonder Hamas let the aid from the flotilla sit for weeks in Israel before finally allowing trucks into Gaza with it.

Most of it was trash, which isn't surprising given the motivation for the aid ships wasn't to send aid (plenty gets through the crossings) but to break the blockade.

4. I don't f*cking care what the Gaza ministry of health does.

Both the Israelis and Palestinians can go drown for all I care. I wouldn't piss on either of them if they were dehydrated, in the desert, and their hair was on fire. They are two abusive spouses in a bad marriage who deserve each other.

So I won't defend anything, but will say that crappy goods frequently get into charitable donations. Ever work at a Salvation Army store?

I notice, though, that you have not addressed my point.

Don't bother with another misdirection argument. You won't get a reply unless you address exactly the subject I posted about. Dig?

5. You are right, except for the more unstable medicines like those that need to be refrigerated or
kept at a certain constant temp, most are just as good and effective long after their expiration date. You are also correct that charities scoop these up by the truckload from the manufacturer(who gets a nice write off btw) and use them in poor countries to treat those who would not be able to obtain or even afford these medications. If your suffering from a disease you could care less if some medicine that can cure you is technically expired.
