Al-Aqsa spokesman denies bin Laden statement

The spokesman of Fatah's military wing on Tuesday denied issuing a statement marking Osama bin Laden's death.

Abu Uday of the Al-Aqsa Brigades said the group did not and had no plans to comment because bin Laden's death was unrelated to Palestine.

He said a statement received by Ma'an's Gaza City office must have been forged as the armed group "doesn't know anything about it."

The statement issued in Al-Aqsa's name said the group was "shocked with the news that bin Laden had been killed by the non-believers." "The fighters in Palestine and around the world ... did not stop their mission," it said.

And there was only one post made about the alleged statement - which may or may not have actually been made. Your "half dozen variations" claims is simply not true.

And there was no "fraud" of any kind.

With the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade, there have often been situations where one representative says one thing and another contradicts it.

Like taking "credit" for terrorist attacks for example.

Only one of those threads are related to a statement by Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade that may or may not have been made.

One is about reaction in Gaza to Bin Laden's death, one in Jerusalem, one is a Huff Post Op Ed about peace prospects in the wake of the unity agreement, and one is a Time magazine piece looking at the varying reactions among the Palestinians to what took place with Bin Laden.

I mean, you can say that this forum is nothing but variants on a theme - that's what makes it the I/P forum.

And if you only want to read article that are important to you, you are more than welcome to do so. Some other folks might be interested in topics you might find unpleasant for some reason.

There is no "BS" that has been called on anything other than whether or not Al-Aqsa made any statement.

Certainly no one has called BS on the fact that Ismail Haniyeh (Prime Minister recognized by Hamas) said this:

"We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We ask God to offer him mercy with the true believers and the martyrs."

If you want to downplay the signficance of that, knock yourself out.
