IDF troops arrest two West Bank settlers

Israel Defense Forces troops Monday arrested two West Bank settlers suspected of opening fire in the Palestinian village of Akid, west of the town of Ariel.

Palestinian residents in the village complained that the settlers opened fire in the village, although the incident's exact circumstances are not yet clear.

The IDF is checking the possibility that the settlers opened fire in the air because they were in distress. A second possibility is that the two settlers entered the village with the aim of hurting Palestinians. The investigation will be handed to the Samaria and Judea police.

An IDF force patrolling in the area noticed the car of the settlers, from Michmash, west of Ramallah, leaving the village of Akid. When the settlers noticed them, they fled back into the village and were caught by the troops after their car got stuck in a nearby Wadi.
