CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) - Campaign aides to President Bush on Saturday laughed off rampant Internet speculation about whether the president was wired to get help from advisers during his first debate with Sen. John Kerry. ``It's not true. It's ridiculous,'' Bush campaign spokesman Scott Stanzel said.

A still photo from television footage of Bush as he debated Kerry on Sept. 30 in Coral Gables, Fla., appears to show a small, boxy shape between the president's shoulder blades.

Campaign officials declined to discuss it further because they weren't certain a bulge even existed and do not want to appear to take seriously what they consider a ``wild accusation.''

Bloggers and others began to muse on various Web sites that the bulge could have been a radio receiver that the president's aides could use to give him answers during the debate. One Web site, www.isbushwired.com, is devoted solely to the matter.

``Some people have been spending too many hours looking at left-wing conspiracy Web sites,'' Stanzel said. ``Did you hear the one about Elvis moderating the third debate?''

2. That confirms it for me.
If they deny it, it must be true.

3. Those crazy left-wing conspiracy websites
Guess I should spend less time with you conspiracy theorists. And to think, I just signed up a few days ago. Good thing I learned my lesson quickly.

6. another nasty rumor from the internets...
that people have every reason to believe. If it really wasn't an earpiece, than prove it!! They don't seem to understand that they have exactly zero credibility with most people.

13. PICTURES 4 U
Don't talk to me about them not admitting protection. Who the PHUK is going to tell the public that "yes, the president IS wearing a vest! He's scared of the nice folks at the debate!" ??

I just pledged on another topic 5 minutes ago not to debate this again. I break my pledge to being you these pictures and accompanying writings!

Keep in mind no pictures of a vest proves anything because the prez will have a high-end "unique" (like Iraq) custom made vest made for maximum protection and concealment and minimum discomfort.

The plate below is described as
Our most popular Ceramic FRONT Rifle Plate
Triple-Curved to hug your body, plus extra taper for more freedom of movement.
The Back Plate is also Triple-Curved but more rectangular

Yep, the back plate is also "tripple curved"..and more "rectangular"...and the light on his back only hit ONE of three sides of this tripple curved back plate.

This theory is even better than the receiver one. Making Bush out to be afraid of a captive audience makes him a coward.

14. I don't know what it was
No one here knows for sure, I am just highly entertained by the article. I don't necessarily disagree with the vest idea, and a receiver seems less likely because they'd be more hi-tech than a lumpy back device. Who knows?

Go left-wing conspiracy websites!

15. he is a coward, i could easily go a vest in hall, he is that afraid
i saw it during convention and there was a protestor and the fear in bush's eyes once he realized a disturbance. so they are lying,. i want it out bush is lying, be it vest or receiver, i want to know, cause i know it isnt any ole backbone. doesnt look like that vest though in your picture.

and play in this thread or not, dont beat yourself up if you get drawn back in, or not. just all a huge ass game

18. This is ridiculous.
There is obviously a clear outline on the *dipshit's finely-tailored suit that does NOT belong there. If it's a communication device, why is it so large? Could it be a dummy distraction (wood block and fish tank hose) they are using to test the limits of their accountability? If MILLIONS can be convinced their eyes are the real liars, the envelope can be pushed further, eh?
