...by trading Dean buttons for Clark buttons! :)
You may recall a while back, the press caught a leaked memo from the Dean campaign telling their supporters to flood an event Clark would be at in order to "show them who's in charge." The Dean staffer who wrote the memo even apologized for the wording. They got so much bad press over the leaked memo that they backed down.
But here's the interesting part, the event happened and there were a few Dean supporters there, but nothing like the anti-Clark flood that was planned. Here's a report by someone of what happened at the event.
--------
There had been rumors that the Dean Campaign was intending to crash the dinner, apparently having sent out an email to their supporters offering free tickets and saying there would be Dean swag and noise makers.(This was reported in ABC's The Note) Apparently this didn't go over very well with the State Party, and they were called and admonished about this immature stunt. We'd been prepared for this altercation and had planned to thank the Deanies for coming to support Gen. Clark and offering them Clark buttons, but fortunately we didn't have to. The warning must have worked, and while there were a handful of Dean supporters there, they were for the most part respectful and behaved like fellow Democrats.

We'll have to wait for the results of the February 3rd caucuses, but I'm convinced he's going to perform well. I'm pretty certain I even saw a number of Dean supporters who had originally thought of coming there to disrupt his speech, leave throwing their Dean buttons in the trash and picking up the bright blue "Clark for President" buttons to replace them. http://northdakota.forclark.com/story/2004/1/11/164749/933-----
