What should I look for, ask about, etc?

1. Go to your Sup of Elections office
Ask if there is an alternate ballot you can hand in directly to him/her.

9. Huh? Bad idea!
First off, a photo of a touch screen means absolutely nothing from a legal standpoint, it's unusable for recount purposes and taking a photo of the screen while casting your ballot may even get you arrested depending on where you vote and who's manning the polls at the time.

3. Vote absentee
We took our absentee ballots to registrar's office today. They verified our names and asked whether we wanted to Evote or use a paper ballot. We said paper, of course. It was wonderfully easy.

:shrug: If you live in California you can request a paper ballot to vote on and they have to give it to you. :evilgrin:

They just won't tell you that, you have to ask. :(

5. I live in VA, I just moved here not too long ago
I'm trying to found out if I can get a paper ballot but am having no luck finding info on their elections web site.

7. You can get an absentee ballot within 5 days of the election!...
You still have time! Go for it! I got mine and sent it in on 10/20!

Completing an absentee ballot application

Virginia law prescribes that Applications for absentee ballots shall be completed in one of the following manners:

1) In Person

An application completed in person shall be made not less than three days prior to the election in which the applicant offers to vote and completed only in the office of the general registrar. The applicant shall sign the application in the presence of a registrar or the secretary of the electoral board.


2) By mail, electronic or telephonic transmission to a facsimile device

Applications can be made by mail, electronic or telephonic transmission to a facsimile device if one is available to the office of the general registrar. If a facsimile device is not available locally contact us . The application shall be made to the appropriate registrar not less than five days prior to the election in which the applicant offers to vote.

12. Look for the little man in the Bush/Cheney shirt
He'll be the one tooling with the box and running away right before you come up to vote at it.
