Blaming Edward for vaccine shortage! It's started!!
Just got an email from a Republican cousin...in capsule form,Edwards sued flu vaccine manufacturers--and won--after his client contracted flu despite vaccination. And that's why American pharmaceutical companies no longer manufacture the vaccine!

1. Prove him wrong
David Brock has a quote from an expert saying litigation is "only a small part" of why there are shortages on the mediamatters page today.

7. Flu shots are so cheap, and the cost of getting the flu is huge, especiall
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 05:04 PM by AP
if you're an hoursly worker who only gets paid if you go to work.

It also shifts a lot of wealth to manufacturers of palliative care. There's more profit for the Republicans' favorite industries in getting people sick than in giving them the cure. And there's more costs for Republicans least favorite people: labor. But don't worry. The corp execs will get their flu shots. (Or even if they get the flu, they'll just get a couple days off from work with pay -- a small price to pay if you're making a lot of money off of other people getting sick.)

9. Thousands of people will die
because they were unable to get a flu shot. Some people are older than 42 and more vulnerable.

4. Hogwash!
http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/flushot.asp

By the way, there is existing law that limits liability for vaccine manufacturers for children's innoculations, and a bill on Bush's desk extending that protection to manufacturers of flu vaccine, except Bush won't sign it.

10. Stupid reason.
SO someone sued and won. Maybe there was a problem with it.

Besides it's not the trial lawyers' fault that there are huge settlements on the lawsuits. The lawyers don't decide the settlement amounts, the juries do.

Maybe the Repugs need to go after the juries.
