What should we do, after we get done crying, if that WCS comes true ? I sure hope it doesn't. Of course, before the WCS comes true, the USSC would have to step in again, and probably hand it (again) to *.

1. Get done crying?
Democrats in this country will be too angry to cry. What exactly do you mean by that?

7. I doubt we'd get hysterical either.
More angry, more motivated, more aware. We've learned more about how to work the media, not rely on them to be independent and question *, etc. If somehow Chimpy ends up "winning," I'd like to think that Democrats will fight him harder.

11. If the bastard wins?
Well of course the impeachment proceedings will begin immediately, as with Nixon. Don't forget that Nixon won that election before all the Watergate shit came back to nail him.

But watching Bush further unravel will be fun.
And watching the Civil War within the GOP will be fun.
Plus watching Bush have to deal with all his messes will be fun too.
Bush will be a lame duck so will not have much power.

It's surely not the best of all possible worlds but it's got its upside.

See my Ratfuck Diary today re Bush and religion.

18. Sorry to be blunt, but...
...anyone who thinks that we can impeach * if he wins Nov 2nd has taken too many hits from the Bong Of Wishful Thinking.

In order to impeach *, a majority in the House would have to vote for impeachment. We might close the gap a bit, but the House will stay Republican after the election. The House Republicans under DeLay would not vote to impeach * if he ate a baby on live TV.

Even if by some miracle the house voted to impeach, 2/3 of the Senate would have to vote to convict. Best-case scenario for the post-election Senate is that we hold 51 seats + Jeffords. That is not 2/3rds, even if we assume we could get moderates like Snow and Chafee and even not-moderates-but-not-completely-insane like McCain to vote for impeachment. * will have at least 33 loyal soldiers in the Senate ready to excuse any malfeasance.

Forget impeachment. It's a fantasy. We couldn't do it to Reagan for illegally selling arms to terrorists, why the heck do you think we could do it to *?

The only way to get * out of office will be to WIN THE ELECTION. So GOTV!

27. Good piece about Bush and Religion, and good points about
potential impeachment, and Bush having to attempt to clean up as much of the mess he's created as possible.....

I don't like the name of your blog (!) and I almost didn't click, but glad I did. I can't believe Ed Koch voting for Bush. I think my dad just might have a heart attack over that one. He is as guily as the mass murderer himself if he votes for Bush.

Below is copied from your post for other viewers to read and laugh:

"The words of a King’s favored prophet used to end up inscribed in Greek and Hebrew calligraphy in books revered by millions for millennia.

Now we know it’s just Karl Rove talking in Bush’s earpiece again."

I also meet them at the local shooting range. Some of them talk tough about the same scenario. They do not worry me.

No matter what they might say they do know what a 44 magnum, 5.65, and SKS can do and would not turn them on fellow citizens.

17. steve2470, we aren't gonna lose. Here are Kerry's plans to fight this...
<This is an excerpt from a diary from the DailyKOS>

======================================================

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/10/22/11622/560

<snip>
I have met with the comment, "Yeah, so what if we vote, the whole election is rigged and my vote probably won't be counted." I am sure that you hear a lot of Diebold suspicion voiced around Ann Arbor. Last night I emailed friends who have expressed worry about voter fraud:

Yes, Bush sent rent-a-mobs in Enron jets to Florida in 2000 to grab the election. But, Kerry is more-than-ready for a fight (Oct 20 AP release).

Excerpts:
"Sen. John Kerry, bracing for a potential fight over election results, will not hesitate to declare victory Nov. 2 and defend it, advisers say. He also will be prepared to name a national security team before knowing whether he's secured the presidency.(...)"

"Six so-called "SWAT teams" of lawyers and political operatives will be situated around the country with fueled-up jets awaiting Kerry's orders to speed to a battleground state. The teams have been told to be ready to fly on the evening of the election to begin mounting legal and political fights. Every battleground state will have a SWAT team within an hour of its borders."

"The Kerry campaign has recount office space in every battleground state, with plans so detailed they include the number of staplers and coffee machines needed to mount legal challenges. "

"'Right now, we have 10,000 lawyers out in the battleground states on Election Day, and that number is growing by the day,' said Michael Whouley, a Kerry confidant who is running election operations at the Democratic National Committee. (...)"

"Democrats are already laying the public relations groundwork by pointing to every possible voting irregularity before the Nov. 2 election and accusing Republicans of wrongdoing."

"On Election Day, Whouley will head the so-called "boiler room," probably in Washington, that tracks vote counts and ensures Kerry doesn't concede too soon. Whouley was the aide who, after noticing Florida was too close to call in 2000, called Gore's team in Tennessee and told them to put the brakes on the concession speech."

======================================================

Hope this helps!

Jennifer

36. On November 3rd, I call Democratic Senators with this message:
"Hi, I'm Tommy. I vote in every single election, from dogcatcher to President. I give money. I protest. I flyer. I email. I plan on moving to a swing state in a few years. I vote straight-ticket Democrat every time I'm in the voting booth.

"I'm calling/writing to make myself perfectly clear to you on one issue: the US Supreme Court. I'll tolerate a LOT of disappointment. I've seen tons of compromise on other issues by members of our own party. But I won't budge on this one thing. My bottom line? If you let another Scalia onto the high court, I bolt the party. You lose me for good. Like I said, I'll tolerate a lot. But I have absolutely no tolerance for any more theocrats on the high court.

"I hope that I have made myself perfectly crystal clear. Thank you, and good luck with your filibuster."

41. I know what I'm doing.
I've been tempted to join the political machine, serving my country by running for office somewhere. Right now, I'm in a good place. I have a good job, good career track, plenty of money later on to fuel my dreams of making independent movies and comics and being an artist. Have a family, be a teacher, coach, live life to the fullest as I travel and be a good American.

If John Kerry wins, I will continue to better myself and possibly enter later one. If * wins, I will go back home and start running for office. Any office, even if it's a small village position. I'll start small and work my way up, because I'm sick of our leaders lying and cheating and not being leaders. This goes mainly for the folks in power now, but also for some of the less than upstanding leaders in this party. I want the chance to be a real leader. I want to fight for real people. Standing up for what I beleive in.

It sounds vain, I guess, and I am young but I know I posess the leadership skills necessary to be a strong leader in some aspect. If * wins, I won't be able to stand it anymore and I will do everything in my power to prevent something like him from happening again.

We are fifty percent (or more) of this country and they can't play ball without us.

If Bush gets four more years, those who enabled him to power should not be allowed to slip back into the "silent majority" background, into their safe and selfish existences. They would have to be told what they're supporting is wrong. They would have to be forced to deal with their own conscience.
