My precinct has surpassed 2000 turnout ALREADY.
In 2000, we had 293 TOTAL people cast a presidential ballot giving us a piss-poor voter turnout of 28.28%.

We just hit 315 voters. In FOUR DAYS OF VOTING.

woooooooooooooooooooooooo!

2. you need to give context --

1.) How does your precinct lean politically?

2.) Has there been significant population growth in your precinct the last four years that might yield a natural increase in turnout?

We voted for Gore, although by a slim majority (53%). There are TONS of Kerry signs around and only three households openly for Shrub.

Happily, when you look at the straight party vote, 26% voted straight party R, 41% voted straight party D. Good news for our county candidates.

Mine is an older and established neighborhood. There may have been population turn-over, i.e. people moving in and out of the neighborhood, but there is almost no-where to put new houses. So I think the population has remained pretty consistent.

Four years ago we only had 1036 registered voters out of a voting-age population of 3,459. I have not been able to find current voter registration numbers for my precinct yet, but I'm continuing to look. I know we had approx. 180 NEW registered voters in the most recent cycle, but that was only 6 months, and I don't know how many may have moved out.

(edited to finish a sentence)
