What does this Sinclair deal mean for our boycott? Were they fair enough
for us to call it off (for those who are participating)?

Sounds like it, and life without Victoria's Secret and Corona is kinda boring, but hey, organization is the best thing ever!

1. I'm going to boycott other businesses or services
that are RABIDLY RW until further notice. However, the deal with Sinclair was to boycott adverts. until Sinclair "saw the light"--they did...so I guess it's okay to Pound down some Cervezas :toast:

Next boycott? How about corporate media??? Muahahahahah

5. I'm guessing you didn't watch tonights special "news" event?
It was extremely biased.

We need to blanket the FCC with complaints.

7. You're right....I'm only going by what others are saying in DU
who did watch it. I don't live in a Sinclair area; though I did write to advertisers and write to Sinclair in protest etc. Went back and forth with one Advert for two days!!

What I'm hearing, in other threads, is that whatever they showed was slightly more "balanced" than what people expected; not perfect but better than an all out smear... it apparently teed off the wingnuts something aweful.

If there is something more that needs to be done...I'm in. :hi:

2. No freaking way...........................
stating that it was fair is ludicrous. They glossed over Bush's service record, and hammered Kerry, portraying him as a treasonous traitor to his country. Bullshit, I'm writing everyone I can to ke them know how pissed off I am over this. Sinclair has abused their media clout to promote their own fascist agenda. If we had not protested this before, the content of this faux "news" show would have been far more libelous. No way am I getting off of Sinclair's ass. I already wrote the FCC, my local FUX station that aired it Sinclair Broadcastin itself and I'm not done yet.

4. Amen Brother
I can not imagine anyone seriously seeing that "non-news" event as unbiased. They let the lies stand without comment, whimped about the nasty Dems who wanted to knock them out of their free speech rights without ever mentioning the Repub-Reagan affair, allowed ads when they said they would not, glossed over Shrubs military record by saying we will never know because too many records are missing (not true), never mentioned that Kerry is credited with shorting the war and saving lives, etc. It goes on and on.
I am still boycotting and e-mailing. Goodby to Channell 6 in Columbus, Ohio.......it will never be turned on in my home again.

 :argh:

3. I'm still boycotting GM...
just for being such assholes about this whole thing, and because they are large Republican donors.

6. We are going to ask for their license to be revoked here in Raleigh.
It's more than the "Swift Boat" thing with them. It's not allowing Ted Koppel to read the names of those who died in Iraq, and the constant Right Wing editorials that are read on both stations.

This needs to be ongoing until we get the "Fairness Doctrine" which was done away with by Ronnie Reagan, reinstated.

8. NO!!!
They are still right wing propagandists.

The piece did include info from people "on the other side." BUt it was still a right wing hit piece against Kerry.

They quoted Nixon and one of his henchmen on Kerry as if we should believe Nixon's take on Kerry...

The boycott and reaction clearly worked, they toned it down, but it was still a piece of crap. And the production quality was pretty bad too.
