Texans... Can Tom DeLay be defeated?
Just wondering what the latest polls are showing. Is there any chance that DeLay can be defeated?

1. 7 points behind Delay...
According to Morrison's website.

www.morrisonfor22.com

Send him some cash if you can.

Yes, he can be defeated. He's just too big of an asshole to not notice his uber-assholiness.

2. Morrison is behind but those same polls show *bush at 61% (not sure
if those are just Texas polls. They probably are.) Morrison really has a good shot. He needs money and many, many people to vote. Part of Galveston county (which thanks to DeLay's redistricting is reporting record turnout for early voting. This is a Dem area.). It will really be a hoot if his reredistricting turns out to turn him out.

3. It would take a miracle.
Delay's running lots of ads now (I mean lots)--and he hasn't done that in a decade. So, he knows he's not polling well. It will probably be his lowest margin of victory ever.

But the stupidity of the people around here knows no bounds. The Fundies love him and that's enough to win any election here.

4. Still quite a long shot, but Morrison is doing great.
The consolation prize to not taking out DeLay is that he's much better to run against in '06 than Hastert-off-the-strings would be.

5. Delay is worried.
Several things to note:

DeLay deigned to debate an opponent for the very first time ever, this week.

DeLay is advertising, advertising, advertising.

Lots of Republicans, the businessmen type, despise Tom DeLay for his arrogance. He's more the darling of the Fundies. I know Republicans who won't vote for DeLay. They may not vote for a Democrat, but they won't vote for Tom DeLay.

I'm seeing quite a few Morrison ads on TV.

DeLay re-districted himself into part of Galveston County, which is one of the most solid Democratic counties in Texas.

This could be verrrrry interesting.

We're Gonna Do What They Say Can't Be Done

Our ad ran last night during the fourth inning of the most watched broadcast in Houston history. Thanks to your amazing support tens of thousands of voters in the district now know they have an honest choice for congress.

But the closer we get the more there is to do. I have more ads ready to go on TV, radio and online. Please join me in doing everything we possibly can to beat DeLay on November 2nd. Click here to make a miracle happen: http://r.vresp.com/?RichardMorrisonCongr/0eef7144ec/242985/76aa5eed30/7a363d7

Yesterday, Bev Carter, a respected community leader and GOP Precinct Chair in DeLay's home of Fort Bend County came out with an op-ed that says "sometimes party loyalty asks too much." She didn't stop there:

But what has he done for us lately?.....I could write reams and reams about the things Tom DeLay has done that I disagree with since he was elected to Congress. In brief....he has started a fund-raising operation in Washington the likes of which no one has ever seen before--a fund-raising operation that can't help but distort the political process; he has almost single-handedly turned politics from a process of non-partisan co-operation for the betterment of the whole people to a system of hatred of the other party where no accommodations can be made to affect significant legislation and only the well-heeled are heeded.

I've asked many local officials what DeLay has done for us here in Fort Bend County, an area he has represented for 20 years. I've been told that he caused a tower to be built at Sugar Land airport. Yeah, that's going to really help me.

Although I am a Republican precinct chair, I am reminded of what John F. Kennedy said many years ago: "Sometimes party loyalty requires too much."

Help us get our message to all the other honest folks in the district who have had enough of Tom DeLay. Please contribute today: http://r.vresp.com/?RichardMorrisonCongr/770dee2464/242985/76aa5eed30/7a363d7

thank you so much,

Kyle Johnston, Campaign Manager
Richard Morrison for Congress

7. Anything can happen and I believe it can happen
And there is just enough momentum (tipping point) for Richard Morrison to help him get there. All he needs is 50% of the vote plus 1. DeLay's approval numbers are in the mid 40s, Morrison is finally getting some money for good TV ads and many others are jumping in to point out Tom DeLay's sick repuke values. Their campaign is running a hard good race to win it. I sent them a little money and so can all of you

Morrison got the endorsement of the Houston Chronicle. And Bev Carter, a respected community leader and GOP Precinct Chair in DeLay's home of Fort Bend County came out with an op-ed that says "sometimes party loyalty asks too much."

Here is the rest of her op/ed
