What's/Where's your sign?
Our road is in a very repug part of our county in Ohio, and not that many property owners have political yard signs. In our section of what is basically a country road there are about 10 Bush/Cheney signs and 5 Kerry/Edwards ones. Of course, we're one of the ones that displays a Kerry/Edwards sign.

What do you think the reason is for so many people NOT displaying any colors. Is it apathy? Privacy? Fear? Something Else?

I guess I'm just wondering about the psychology of this whole yard sign thing. I guess the same would apply to the bumper sticker crowd. At work there is one Bush/Cheney bumper sticker in the parking lot and my Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker. The rest of the vehicles have bare behinds.

2. I live in "out in the country" in western PA.
My K/E signs have been up for about 6 weeks. This is basically a Repug area, but no one has given me a hassle.

Most people I know who don't want to put up signs don't want trouble with their neighbors. My next door neighbor has a Shrub sign up, but our houses are pretty far apart. We just ignore each other.

3. this is my pet piss off (peeve if you will)
Folks are sooo cowed by this political climate that they can't take a stand. I call them pussies. (am I allow to say that??) Truth hurts and especially in this election cycle, eh? I do feel it is pitiful that folks can't stand up for what they believe in. I have adorned my car with a large array of pro-kerry, anti-bush signage. I love the reactions I get, both pro and con. If some repug really gets me going I have numerous signs that I hold up for them to read. Today I gave a michigan fingerer the "Hitler would be so Proud!" He liked it so much he gave me the "your number one salute!" God I love to piss them off.
But on a serious note, my "Dump Bush" signs attract lots of awesome folks, like the lady today from WVA who talked my ear off for 10 minutes.....which gave me plenty of time to give her three bumper-stickers and a pile of MoveOn Pac literature. The tide must be turning because I see lots of shrubbery, but they are mostly wimps who won't even look me in the eye. Did I mention my yard??? I will describe that later. I am the anti-bush........on wheels. P.S. I went to the hs football game tonight with a pile of MoveOn Literature. One is a reprint of the NYT full page ad of 9 folks who voted Repub in 2000 but are voting for kerry in 2004. I put them on every car I could find with the BC04 stickers, and you know I didn't notice any on the ground when I left. Anyway, if you are supporting a candidate get off your ass and go get a fricking sign and bumpersticker.......NOW!

6. Interesting thoughts
I think you are right about people being "pussies." (I don't really like that word). Anyway, my husband and I just moved into a new area. Most of the people around here are repubs and he doesn't want to piss off any of our new neighbors. He won't let me put out my signs. He isn't really into politics as much as I am so he doesn't understand. He's voting for Kerry so that's all I'm concerned about!

4. I can't put a sign in my yard - it's a parsonage
But I can put stickers in my car window!!!!
And I wear my Kerry pins all the time - except Sunday morning.

So, I get yard signs and give them to people who want them. I see it as a public service.

5. Sign in yard.
Bumper sticker on car.

Neighborhood COVERED in Kerry signs. Mostly due to me and a couple of good neighbors who got the precinct organized. :P

7. In my neighborhood, which is upper middle class
I have seen three B/C yard signs and one K/E sign. I haven't seen many bumperstickers displayed around town. Of those I have seen, I'd say it's about even.

8. My sign is in my window...
...I don't have a front yard in front of where I live and I live in the second floor apartment. My Kerry sign however is easily seen from the street. On my own block there is only one other sign at a Mexican food store across the street,it says "Latino Merchants for Kerry/Edwards".Around my city I do see signs, more Kerry/Edwards signs than B/C signs.

9. Ohio will have some signs tomorrow....
We'll be doing a little freeway blogging in Ohio tomorrow night.

3 28" x 24" signs for over passes/highways, 30 11"x14" signs for telephone polls.

It's nothing big - but maybe SOMEONE will see them....

11. Well... atta GIRL actually -
Sentiment received, however. ;) "Clobbersaurus" is pretty gender ambiguous.

Have any suggestions as to specific places we should target. The further east the better, we are driving from Maryland...

13. I live in a southwest suburb of Chicago and my Kerry signs
have been in my windows since last May, which I paid for. I realize that Illinois is definitely a "blue state", but our local Dem precinct captain has done absolutely nothing for Kerry/Edwards or Barack Obama.

My husband came home tonight and told me that one block away from where we live he actually saw yard signs for */Dickhead and that carpetbagger Alan Keyes.

This is the same guy that I contacted in person in late March to tell him I would volunteer to do anything, phone banks, data entry, etc., to send the imposter at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue back to Crawford, TX and to elect Barack Obama. He never once called or stopped by my home and he only lives two blocks away.

I know for all you people in the swing states this sounds like a ridiculous rant, but I'm really angry. This is the same person that told one of my neighbors five weeks ago, "it's gonna be really hard to beat Bush". The DINO's in Worth Township IL need a good swift kick up their holes.

This guy seems to be more interested in getting the local state rep and the son of the retiring Congressman, "Bungalow Bill" Lipinski elected than the bigger picture. FYI, there was no Democratic Congressional Primary in our district, "Bungalow Bill" didn't announce his retirement until after the Illinois Primary.

Some things never change, especially in the Illinois Democratic Party.
