boo hoo -- Frank Luntz worries about November 3 and the hatred!
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 02:32 AM by grasswire
The height of arrogance. Frank Luntz on MSNBC is worrying about how the new president can possibly govern over such a hateful nation -- tsk tsk so divided tsk tsk so angry.

Well, Bush didn't bother governing in Jan. 2001. He opened a juggernaut that created its own reality and cared nothing for the consent of the governed.

Boo hoo hoo.

Tell it to Coulter and Horowitz and Scarborough and Lucianne and Rush and and and and.

Call off the dogs, if you want some peace in the land.

1. I hate a president* who lies to me
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 02:35 AM by high density
And I also don't look nicely upon the people who continue to eat up those lies even when so many news sources prove otherwise.

What can I say? I guess it's just one of those things that comes to a person who lives in the reality based community.

it must be rough having nearly complete control of the US government. it certainly hasn't seemed to improve their fucking behavior.

24. They have everything to be hateful about
You see, if they aren't hateful, nobody votes for them. Hate is to Republicans what death is to vultures. It may be unpleasant, but it's essential to their survival.

5. And all the yelling
Ain't it just a cryin' shame. Now that WE are yelling. Where the hell has he been the last 4 years, 12 years, when ever liberal or Democrat has been screamed at and villainized. Didn't care so much then, now did he. Little sewer rat.

6. We need a new president precisely because the (s)elected
president has divided the nation. Bush never had the popular vote, but he acted like he did, and then ignored the people and the Congress. His PNAC group and the large Christian group that I've been sort of reading about on DU postings, and big corporations have become a virtual subgovernment under Bush, which is dangerous because they are not elected officals.

7. Proper Juggernaut etiquette, of course

People like him are supposed to jump under its wheels, but _now_ he's resisting the urge? C'mon Frank, that's where your kind belongs!

(The Juggernaut is a wheeled, extremely massive vehicle carrying a huge statue of one of the Indic gods. True devotees or those feeling the necessity jump out of the crowd and under its wheels on the holidays it is rolled out of its temple.)

...said as much in his latest article. He said it will be a miracle if there isn't civil war in the aftermath of the election, which he said could be dragged out for SEVERAL YEARS by Rove.

12. Give Luntz Some Due Here...
He may be an asshole, but he was one of the few Repugnicans that appears to be seeing the same polls and numbers many of us are. His focus groups this year have been far more objective than in the past and his analysis about how this regime's negatives will mean defeat has been consistent.

He doubts those who think there's a surprise in how inexact polling has become in the age of the cellphone & internet, and he's not going to admit that or he'll never get another Repugnican dollar again.

But at least it's good to know James Trafficant's hairpiece has found a new home.

Cheers!

23. I thought I read somewhere he was dropped as MS/NBC focus group
guru for being too obviously biased to pass himself off as objective.

I certainly see him as one of the most covertly biased and creepy little political hacks on television.

To clarify, I have no problem with pundits who declare their loyalties openly and then flame away -- that's fine. The ones I can't stand are the creeps like Wolf Blitzer, Bill Schneider, etc, who try to pass themselves off as objective journalists, who let their personal bias rule their work everyday without ever acknowledging that is the case.

Frank Luntz is exhibit A in this group, IMO.

15. It's pretty disingenuous to
try to sound concerned about the current political climate in the land when you have actively worked to create the divisiveness through every lie, cheat, and theft you could connive to put out there. * was correct--an angel does ride in the whirlwind, and the whirlwind is about to cleanse the land. I so look forward to a Kerry administration. These criminals have disgraced our country in every way.

And hasn't Luntz played a pivotal role in the hatespeak? Didn't he advise the Newt crowd?

Seems I read that somewhere.

20. He better worry more if Bush somehow manages to worm his way back
into office, because if he thinks he's seen our side angry now, he ain't seen nothing yet.

We are fifty percent or more of this country and can shut this place down if need be. Bush has governed as if we're nothing. This country can't function without us. If he manages to worm his way back in, we will stand up and hold the enablers accountable - massive non-violent resistance. The turmoil of the 60's would probably pale in comparison to what's coming if Bush gets four more years.

22. Do What Bush Promised in 2000
He promised to unite the country and we know what happened. I'd love to see Kerry make a real effort to bring the country together. That means appointing Republicans to the cabinet. It means regularly consulting with Republican leaders in Congress. It means getting a few Republicans into senior advisory positions. I know some of you will want to get a little revenge, but a Kerry Presidency is going to be a lot more successful by reaching out to the other side rather than trying to pummel it into submission. Bush would probably be ahead 15 points in the polls if he genuinely tried to reach out to Democrats during his presidency.
