1. This is how the process works. First undecideds go up, then they switch.

Same thing happened to Jimmy Carter. You have a lead, then your people switch to undecided, then they vote for the challenger.

This is one of many polls this week showing Kerry standing still but an increase in undecideds, and that's exactly what we have been waiting for.

7.  Kerry leads on who would best handle gay marriage 43 to 39
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 10:34 AM by troublemaker
best news in the poll. Other tid-bits:
Kerry and Bush both receive a 50 percent favorable rating. The number of Americans who say they are satisfied with the direction of the country is unchanged from last week (40 percent are satisfied, 56 percent are dissatisfied). Bush’s approval rating is
basically constant: 46 percent this week vs. 47 percent last week. And 46 percent of registered voters and 47 percent of likely voters would like to see the president re-elected, 48 percent of both likely and registered voters would not.

10. Woooo Hoooo - We got the Mo ... and the intensity.
Don't look back!

"In the new poll, fully 77 percent of Kerry voters say Nov. 2 is the “single most important election” of their lifetime (37 percent), or more important than most other elections (40 percent). In comparison, 27 percent of Bush supporters view this as the single most important election of their lifetime, while 35 percent view it as more important than most other elections. Thirty-five percent of Bush supporters and 21 percent of Kerry supporters say this election is about as important as any other."

11. And aren't they calculating "likely voters"
as those who voted in the 2000 election? If so, RVs are a LOT more motivated to vote in this one.

12. Kerry leads 52-38 among independents
..and Bush's job approval, which was already dangerously low, is down one point (from 47 to 46). Good news.
