What's the Latest on Obama/Keyes?
I was speaking to a Freeper friend yesterday, and he said something about the race suddenly being tight. He HAD to be quoting some unscientific web poll, right? Anyone heard the latest poll numbers? I gotta set my friend straight.

6. I've only been able to find one poll...
...it's old and had Obama up by the number you quoted...just wasn't sure if there was anything more current I could send on to my "crazy" friend, who although he is a Freeper, realizes that Keyes is a nutjob.

2. tight, as in losing the cap to your bottle and chugging it all, tight
Even "duppage" county, the land of the freep and the hole of the rave is breaking for Obama.

the only thing tighter than this race is the black hole which inhabits the skull of one Alan Machine Gun Keyes.

26. I LOVE this line:
"This amounted to Keyes throwing himself on the ropes and dropping his gloves: The weird self-righteousness of it all, the oppressiveness of his expressions of faith, the vicious insult to those who don't share his beliefs and, finally, the phony self-pity that he sprinkles over nearly every utterance.

"The Lord ourself" indeed. Calling Dr. Freud."

5. LAUGH to his 'web poll' face ...
There is about a 45 point chasm that lies between Obama and Keyes ...

Perhaps the largest gulf in ANY state contest ...

Web Polls ? ...... LMFAO ! ...

We love when they support 'our' candidate, but they are NOT reliable in any way .....

The ones that have over 50,000 'votes' on them tend to have more fidelity, but they are still only available to those who use the web, and to those who go to CNN, MSNBC and the like ...

I figure it this way: If someone wants to be comforted with bullshit poll numbers: let them ..... Let THEM crow with unfounded confidence ....

Then watch them weep on election day ....

7. This is the latest poll I could find
In a poll conducted earlier this month Survey-USA shows Obama with a significant lead over Keyes 68 percent to 23 percent.

A 45 point lead is not "tight".

10. What I would like to know is
who the heck are the 23 percent who are supporting this freak? Are there really that many uninformed or plain stupid people out there?

On second thought, maybe I don't want to know the answer to that question.

I have a sister-in-law whose church is backing Keyes. She is not, even though she's voting for the Chimp.

11. Obama is campaigning OUTSIDE of Illinois, in Southern states,
for Kerry and legislative candidates.

I wouldn't be the lest bit concerned.

How many GOPers are going to be motivated to go out and vote for a nutcase like Keyes? I'll bet many just stay home.

14. I got a huge larf outta Keyes a week or so ago
He was bloviating along on CNN (I caught about 45 seconds buying my morning cuppa). He said that the polls showing him hopelessly behind were "lying," and that his own campaign's polling showed him getting about 69% of the vote. The woman questioning him had that "don't scare the crazy man" uptight smile pasted on her face as Keyes went on about how the good, righteous voters of Illinois were going to vote for the godly man (Keyes, presumably) in this campaign, and they just weren't talking straight to pollsters, knowing how much the polls lie.

Then Alan opened his eyes real wide, and tried to "Hulk up" for about 15 seconds before the cameras mercifully cut away.

20. In the second debate
Keyes called Obama, who teaches constitutional law at the U. of Chicago, "Ignorant about the Constitution", and subtly implied that he (Keyes) would represent African Americans better than Obama because of Obama's mixed race heritage. He also implied Obama favored giving Kindergartners sex-ed classes, and is for allowing pornography in schools. Obama easily countered, treating these accusations with the exact amount of respect they deserved.

Meanwhile, former Gov. James R. Thompson, the states most influential Republican leader, said he will not vote for Keyes, and Judy Barr-Topinka, Chairman of the Illinois GOP refuses to answer directly if she will be voting for Keyes.

So, I'd say that Obama is pretty damn safe.

21. Obama..I mean "Osama" 69% Keyes 24%
LOL 45 points not 40.

The "Obama is an Arab" "Mary Chenny is a selfish pleasure wanting witch" and everything else has pretty much buried Keyes.

If somebody tapes all the debates and clips of Keyes in the media then Ill buy a copy off of you just for laughs.

THAT ASIDE, why arent we worring about the REAL races like the Delay race (DONATE to his opponent ..find the www.mydd.com link from a few days ago),Frost-Sessions, etc. ??????

24. Your friend was quoting from the "fairy tale political poll"
This race is not "tight"...it's OVAH, baby! I hope Barack and Michelle Obama has been househunting in Washington.

Obama has lent himself and his volunteers to other races in the country...including helping Kerry. Obama is a good Democrat...and will be a great Senator. Senator Obama and Senator Dick Durbin will proudly represent our state in the United States Senate.

Political IOU's from all over the country...including some from a Kerry White House. Yes, some new officeholders will owe Senator Obama.
