Anyone else getting these annoying calls?
Twice, now, I have recently gotten calls on my cell phone (no land line) with the same basic script, but for different candidates.

Basically, the person goes on to tell me that Local (or State) Candidate X is family-oriented, a great human being, and will work to reduce taxes... yadda yadda yadda. When they're done, they ask me: "So, can we count on you to support Candidate X on November 2?"

In neither instance was there ANY mention made of Candidate X's party affiliation. So, being a straight dem ticket voter, I politely ask if they could reveal what ticket Candidate X is running on. The first caller was quite tentative in saying "Reeeeepubliiican?", while the second one said "He's a Republican, sir" with a little bit more confidence. Both times I just informed them that I was voting straight dem, thanked them for their time and hung up.

Anyone else getting hit with calls like these? On a side note, I am among those cell phone users who have yet to be called for polling purposes.

4. In my county you have to be VERy careful of 3rd parties
The Greens aren't really Greens, something they're not even Dems. They're REPUBS that manage to steal the place on the ticket via petition. Before you get up in arms, the local Dems do it too for the Independant Party. I think the only ones you can rely on for being freeper lunatics are the Repubs and Right to Life Party.

YOu can only depend on the Dems and the Working Families Party to be the lefties.

5. I got a call from Chris Heinz yesterday
Wasn't annoying at all.

I'm also getting lots of calls from Pete Coors polling firms. They ask if I support Coors, and when I say "hell no" they say thank you and hang up.

6. I have no problem with anyone
calling to try to get votes for their candidate. Everyone does it.

While I usually vote straight Dem, if I know the caller is Republican I say I'm undecided so the Repos will spend more time and money on me.

If the caller is Dem, I tell them not to worry and to put the available resources into the swing voters because I vote Dem.
