Sentenced to 8 years, Abu Ghraib Abuser Blames Superiors
http://newstandardnews.net/content/?action=show_item&itemid=1157

Oct 21 - After admitting he forced Iraqi detainees at the infamous Abu Ghraib prison to masturbate in front of others, piled prisoners naked on top of one another and connected a hooded Iraqi to wires in the staging of a mock execution, Staff Sergeant Ivan "Chip" Frederick was sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday. Though Frederick said he knew what he did was wrong, he also pointed the finger at his superiors, whom he said compelled him to abuse prisoners and told him to ignore his misgivings.

Frederick, who holds the highest rank among the seven soldiers charged in connection with abuse at Abu Ghraib, pleaded guilty during the two-day court martial to assault, committing an indecent act, conspiracy and dereliction of duty. But his lawyers urged the judge to take into account the Army’s responsibility in the abuses at Abu Ghraib.

One witness at the trial, Captain Donald Reese, who served as Frederick’s company commander, described the atmosphere at Abu Ghraib as "confusing." He explained that with military police, military intelligence, and the FBI all involved, it was difficult to know who was in charge. Reese said the CIA was involved as well, running some of the interrogation at night.

2. So lack of a photo absolves the higher ups?
How could all that take place if the people in charge were providing the necessary over-site?

That sound like dereliction of duty.

While we know the rank and file were involved because of the photographs, we don't know what else was happening.

Also, nobody takes a snap-shot of a verbal order.

3. Justice? Served?
Funny thing I didn't see Rumsfeld getting sentenced.

Does it occur to you that CIA agents just might be trained to stay out of incriminating photographs?

The point being they didn't "make" these dumb asses do this if they performed their assigned duties as prison guards or whatever they wouldn't be sitting in prison today. Think about it if the CIA or some sort of black op was behind this would they even allow cameras within a mile of the prison let alone that area?

The answer is NO.

Jutice was served on these idiots thank god they won't be patrolling my streets or running my prisons.

6. It makes perfect sense
Find someone dumb enough to pose, if the story leaks, they take the fall. Case closed, black ops guys get to fool around somewhere else. Or maybe even in the same place.

Yeah, take comfort in the fact that the people "patrolling my streets or running my prisons" never do ANYTHING resembling what you saw in those photos. <sarcasm>
