Turnout will be everything
The highest turnout we ever had in our town (82%) was in 1992 when Clinton beat Bush41 in my town by about 600 votes (out of about 8,000 votes cast). That might sound like no big deal but my town is Republican and in the previous 4 presidential elections the Republican (Ford, Reagan, Reagan, Bush41) had taken the town by about the same margin) so the turnout resulted in a turnaround of 1,200 votes. Turnouts in those years that Repubs won was between 40-55%.

I live in a burb about 5 miles NW of the George Washington Bridge in Bergen County, NJ

1. You are right in general though
The country is so polarized, I don't know how many undecided there are--it's mostly about getting our side excited and to the polls.

2. Provided the repub poll watchers allow everyone to vote
They can make the process so time consuming that some will give up and go home. They're trying to do this in Ohio--see the NYT article today. We must be patient and outraged.

3. Yes. And in Florida (my state) the black community will be
instrumental in determining the vote.

Go Kerry!
