This may be a dumb question (RE: intimidating new voters)..
I've read over the NY times piece a few times, but I'm still not sure how the repubs can identify a new voter in order to intimidate them? I understand their thinking that minority voters tend dem and they can intimidate particular groups of people. But how are they able to identify who are new voters and who are not? I couldn't quite glean that from the article.

I have heard of a new scam where repukes are going to homes identifying themselves as election workers who are there to pick up absentee ballots to "deliver" them to the election office. Tell all you friends, relatives, etc. to personally hand deliver ballots to the proper officials. I wouldn't even trust the US Post Office, who knows who is working in those places?

Also, tell everyone you know that they are under NO OBLIGATION to answer any questions or even speak to anyone at the polls except poll workers. Ask for ID/proof that they are official poll workers. The only thing they should ask for is your ID. There may be repukes at the polls trying to intimidate people.

5. nt=no text
meaning that there's nothing in the message part of his/her post. Just the subject line.

6. Thanks for the explanation but it seems unnecessary to say there is no
text when it is obvious to the eye. (accidentally hit "enter", sorry for the double post.)

9. You'll see
Try clicking on the expand threads button at the top of the forum and you will see why someone would use N/T. It's a quicker way of viewing whole forums instead of just thread headings.

2. It is not that hard to identify a democratic voter:
College students, young women, hispanics, blacks all have have been disenfranchised in the past. And they are very good at it.

Will be dangerous places to ply this shabby trade. Feelings are running rather high, and the crowds will be large....
