Tucker Carlson: "I'm Not Voting"
Tucker came to my university to debate Rev. Al Sharpton this past Thursday and those were his words. I unfortunatly did not attend because I had a job fair to go to, but it was the talk of the Dem HQ this morning before canvassing. So, I have no idea what exactly the context was. From what I heard he said he couldn't vote for Kerry but Bush wasn't much better. I wonder how many old school conservatives will stay home?

17. Then WHY is he on CNN daily ranting about the virtues of Bush as
opposed to Kerry. If he REALLY does not agree with Bush enough to vote for him, then he is a complete fraud to be doing this.

15. Technically true
Edited on Sat Oct-23-04 05:15 PM by Book Lover
Tucker is a truer traditional conservative; Bush has increased the size and scope of the federal government and sent our armed forces out on a mission of conquest, neither of which are traditional conservative values. Then again, Bush is a figurehead for the PNAC power/fear/war-mongers...

on edit: And by the way, Tucker, you asswipe, what about every other issue on your ballot? Or are you just interested in "the big game"? Imbecile...

29. That's okay! Let hiim sit this one out. Perhaps his saying so will
encourage others like him to do so, too. One less republi-CON going to the polls means one less vote, each, for all republi-CON candidates and ballot initiatives. It's a win-win situation for us. Let him. Adds luster to his reputation as a hypocrite, too.

Bush has pissed off many traditional Republicans, I'm hoping many of them will sit home. The less Republicans voting for Bush the better.
I thought that this would be the case a long time ago and I hope that I am right.

people. Not all conservatives are rich. bush has no moral compass and is devoid of any ideology except greed. Conservatives believe in less government. But they also know that this jerk is not leading in the right direction. they are pissed at him. Only red necks rally think he is swell.

13. Indeed, Ma'am
Suppressing the vote for the enemy is as vital as building up our own. This is just one more straw in the wind of indications there are many on the right who will, for their own reasons, find themselves unable to support the continuance of the criminals of the '00 Coup in office, and even if they cannot bring themselves to vote for Sen. Kerry, their abstention from voting for Andover cheerleader is of material benefit to our cause.

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"

Last week on his show, after interviewing Alexandra Pelosi about her new film about the Democratic candidates. He said if you don't care for either candidate, then choosing not to vote--staying home on Election Day--is an honorable choice.

He just told us what an IDIOT he really is. When he was a little kid, his momma probably tied his bowtie too tight, cutting off his oxygen, and causing him to sleep through civics class.

What a loser--he's lost his credibility with that comment!

20. There is a balance
that is missing in some of the comments. Historically, totalitarian governments have had laws making voting mandatory. This was to give the illusion of the governed's consent.

I see no reason why anyone should castigate Carlson for not voting. He is violating no law. And since there is no way in hell he is ever going to vote for a Democrat, I would think there'd be more laudatory comments about this decision.

I see no reason why there can't be a "none of the above" choice on ballots in all races. There is a great deal of discontent with the duopoly. Both establishment power factions are for continuing the quixotic and endlessly wasteful and expensive war on a concept. I will go ahead and vote for Kerry, but I'm in Texas, so it won't make any difference in the larger scheme of things.

22. That is basically my opinion
Not in this election because I really like Kerry's position but in 2000 even though I voted for Gore, I really wasn't die hard about him. I know a lot of conservatives, even fundamentalists who disagree with Bush over Iraq and the deficit and other things and some of them have thought aloud about staying home. One should read Carlson's article in Esquire magazine I think it ran in September. He wrote two articles, one in which why he doesn't want to vote for Bush, and one in which he says he HAS to. From my memory the only things he talks about in his HAS to article is terror terror terror.

23. True conservatives have no real representation right now
What do we expect Tucker to do? Vote for Kerry even though he doesn't agree with the same principles Kerry stands for? That doesn't seem very reasonable...I wouldn't vote for a Republican president if the Democratic party was hijacked by someone as equally strange as the neocons.

Then again, there's nothing wrong with writing in a candidate...assuming you don't have to cast a ballot on an electronic voting machine. My guess is that Tucker is not alone in his decision.

30. I have an elderly neighbor like that. Always votes a straight
republi-CON ticket. Can't bear to vote for bush this time - hates what's going on with the war. But somehow she just can't vote for Kerry. Her reasoning tells me she's just swallowed the talking points whole - the flip-flop thing. So she said she's probably gonna go Nader, or write somebody in. I bet there are LOTS of folks out there like her.

to educate his ASS on his LOCAL candidates and get out there and make an intelligent choice in these races, where it really matters.

And he can always write in someone, even if doing electronic voting.

31. My 2 Cents
Just my opinion mind you, but ...

A. There is no way that Tucker Carlson is not voting. I'd bet a sizable chunk of change he's voting for Shrub. In other words, I think he's lying.

B. Thus, his intent is to further suppress the Democratic vote (knowing that his lock-step wing-nut buddies are voting no matter what he says).

C. This is the guy who said in 2000: "I love Catherine Harris." I will never, ever trust a word that comes out of his mouth. He actively favored the actions of the woman who engineered the disenfranchisement of thousands of Florida voters.

In conclusion: Tucker Carlson sux, and he is not to be trusted.
